🌾 Closing thoughts: Carbon Farming Summit 2025 After three days of debate, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing, one thing is clear: carbon farming is not just about carbon. It is about transforming agriculture — towards more regenerative practices, especially for our soils. Today's discussions reinforced key messages that have emerged throughout the summit: ➡️A systemic approach is essential — social, environmental, and economic dimensions must all be considered, but there is still a long way to go. ➡️ Public and private actors must collaborate — carbon prices alone will not drive change at scale, and public funding is unlikely to grow. We must work together. ➡️ Building a common language is crucial — throughout the summit, participants realised that while we often use the same terms, we are not always speaking about the same things. ➡️ And as Kirsten Dunlop put it in the final plenary, this is only possible: "if, and only if, the farmers who steward the land are included." This summit set out to bring together diverse voices, challenge assumptions, and align on action. Over the past three days, we have made real progress in bridging gaps, strengthening collaboration, and shaping the future of carbon farming in Europe. But going forward, we must remember that all this will only be achieved if we act together. Now, the real work begins. Let’s turn insights into action.   #CarbonFarmingSummit #RegenerativeAgriculture

🌾 Day 2 recap: European Carbon Farming Summit 2025 Today, we listened to farmers. While carbon farming brings together policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders, it’s the farmers who work the land, feel the impact of climate change first-hand, and are implementing solutions. That’s why we're committed to ensuring their voices are heard. We started the day with an inspiring farmer-led session organised by SAE Innova, and moderated by Rob Smith. Key reflections from the discussion: 🦋 Biodiversity is risk management – Sheila Darmos shared how incorporating a mix of trees and shrubs enhanced pest control and resilience. 🌍 Carbon is just part of the answer – farmers emphasised the need for healthy ecosystems and full-spectrum thinking over purely carbon-focused approaches. 🌳 The hidden power of trees – managing trees on farms has tangible benefits for soil quality, showing that we need to think about above ground as well as below ground. 🪱 The importance of worms – Iain Tolhurst MBE urged farmers to put soil health at the centre and pay close attention to the biodiversity that lies beneath our feet. Beyond the plenary, some of today’s parallel sessions explored: ➡️ Unlocking soil biodiversity – linking land restoration with economic opportunities. ➡️ AI and tech – enabling efficient, high-integrity carbon farming markets. ➡️ The value chain challenge – scaling Scope 3 solutions in agriculture. ➡️ Baseline approaches for soil carbon monitoring – creating public-private synergies. 🔑 A key takeaway from today? As well as being a policy tool, carbon farming is a language for transformation, bringing positive change in farming. But if we want to scale solutions, we must listen to those who work the soil. On to the final day – let’s keep the conversation going. #CarbonFarmingSummit #RegenerativeAgriculture
