🌱We are thrilled to share that #EDAPHOS was featured in the latest newsletter from the #MissionSoil by European Commission. More specifically, about our its innovative use of nature-based solutions alongside advanced technologies for soil monitoring, ecological risk assessment and ecosystem services evaluation was highlighted. 🗞️ The March issue shines a light on the latest updates from The Mission Soil and its significant progress in promoting sustainable soil management across Europe through a comprehensive approach that involves multiple stakeholders and spans policy and governance boundaries. By 2030, over a thousand sites across Europe will foster co-creation and implementation of sustainable soil management in various landscapes, including agriculture, forests, industrial, natural, and urban areas. 🤓 Read the full newsletter here: https://lnkd.in/eBuRNQ9g #MissionSoil #NBS #Innovation #newsletter INERIS Amphos 21 Główny Instytut Górnictwa - Państwowy Instytut Badawczy LGI Sustainable Innovation Phytowelt GreenTechnologies GmbH Elveflow Microfluidics | an Elvesys brand ONERA - The French Aerospace Lab UBFC - Université Bourgogne-Franche-Comté EVOTROPIA Ecological Finance Architectures Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna

"The results of this campaign guides the development of tailored remediation strategies, advancing the European Commission "Soil Deal for Europe" initiative. Not only are we addressing immediate soil contamination, but we're also promoting long-term ecological sustainability and resilience." We are looking for project partners in Germany to expand our Ecosystem Services (ESS) to more countries in the European Union! Peter Welters, Phytowelt GreenTechnologies GmbH www.phytowelt.com
🌍 Re-cap of the 2024 #soilsampling campaign by EDAPHOS🌱 An essential part of our mission to restore contaminated soils through nature-based solutions, the #EDAPHOS team follows standardized protocols, including the LUCAS protocol with specific adaptations for #EDAPHOS, ensuring high-quality, representative soil samples. Using soil corers and augers, we gathered around 60 kg of composite samples from 30-60 spots at each site, meticulously labelled and documented for accuracy. In Spain for example (case study 3), the campaign included advanced hyperspectral airborne acquisitions and biodiversity surveys, with ONERA - The French Aerospace Lab leading the spectral measurements and soil sampling at the Poderosa control site, in collaboration with CSIC. The collected samples undergo thorough analyses to determine the types of contaminants present and assess their impact on soil health: 🌱 Physico-chemical analyses: Detecting contaminant levels 🌱Biological analyses: Evaluating ecotoxicity and ecological health indicators. These findings are key to the project's ecosystem risk assessment (ERA) and the implementation of the Triad approach—integrating physico-chemical, ecotoxicological, and ecological data for a comprehensive view of soil health and contamination. The results of this campaign guides the development of tailored remediation strategies, advancing the European Commission "Soil Deal for Europe" initiative. Not only are we addressing immediate soil contamination, but we're also promoting long-term ecological sustainability and resilience. Through collaboration, innovation, and community engagement, the EDAPHOS project is paving the way for healthier, more sustainable soils. One year after the kick-off meeting, our résumé is that the project has started promising and the first fruits of the exchange programs have been gathered! Peter Welters, Phytowelt GreenTechnologies GmbH www.phytowelt.com
The kick-off meeting of the GreenCosmIn project was successfully held last Friday (22-3-2024) in Athens, Greece. The event was organized by the Laboratory of Valorization of Bioactive Natural Products (Department of Pharmacy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) as the project coordinator. GreenCosmIn is funded by the European Union under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) for staff exchanges in the field of research and innovation (HORIZON-MSCA-2022-SE-01, project code 101131346). GreenCosmIn is a 4-year Horizon MSCA Staff Exchanges project that aims to form a tight multisectoral and interdisciplinary network for the implementation of green approaches for natural resources exploration and exploitation, towards the production of innovative cosmetics. Extraction, advanced phytochemical analysis and dereplication, in vitro screening, and biotechnological production technologies will be applied in the development of natural cosmetic ingredients and their incorporation into final products. GreenCosmIn will use the prior knowledge of the consortium in biodiversity exploitation and green chemistry extraction with innovative extraction media in lab and pilot scale, for the discovery of extracts and compounds with bioactivity related to skin cosmetic properties (antioxidant, anti-hyperpigmentation, anti-ageing, anti-inflammatory, emollient, antimicrobial, prebiotic), and safety to humans and the environment. Biotechnology approaches and microorganism assisted methodologies will be applied to produce active compounds both in lab and large scale. Active ingredients will be incorporated into final products with preformulation studies and LCA/consumer satisfaction analyses will be performed. The project consortium consists of the following partners: National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne (URCA), Université d' Orléans (UORL), Technische Universitaet Muenchen (TUM), Uniwersytet Medyczny W Lublinie (MUL), Wyzsza Szkola Informatyki I Zarzadzania Z Siedziba W Rzeszowie (UITM), Faculté des Sciences de Sfax (FSS), Pharmagnose S.A. (PhG), Austrian Drug Screening Institute (ADSI), Phytowelt (PHY), NatExplore (NATEX), Le Studium (STU), Université de la Polynésie française (UPF), Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MNUMS). During the kick-off meeting all project partners had the opportunity to present their institutions, their participation in the project and the scope of their work. In addition, a constructive discussion on the project implementation strategy took place. The meeting was honoured by the presence of all project partners, who actively contributed to the constructive dialogue. #MSCA_Staff_Exchanges #GreenCosmIn #Kick_Off_Meeting Funded by the EU.
