We were out in force at {Tech: Berlin} AI Hackathon #3 n8n sponsoring a hackathon mainly consists of us walking around and helping participants build. Quite a lot of folks were vibecoding their front-end then flowgramming out their backend in n8n :) From experience, I can say this is very addictive! On a serious note, I really like in-person events for two reasons: 1. I am human. It's nice to not be on a call. 2. n8n isn't Apple Notes. It's got a few paradigms, a bit of onboarding friction. But it's so powerful once you invest a bit to learn it. It's really easy to show someone in a few minutes in a small group setting. Then you see them work at it, build something neat that they feel proud of. Warm fuzzy feels CITY! Hackathons are also fantastic touchpoints for really rapid user feedback, seeing a usecase playout from concept to prod in 48 hours. I recommend any product sponsors of hackathons have PMs on site to learn from participants. Congratulations to Daniel Montano and Vladyslav. Korobka for cinching 🥇 Well-deserved. They took vertical doomscrolling UI pattern and morphed it into e-learning (with AI, naturally). After videos, different quiz modules appear to interact with the user. Like instagram meets duolingo meets typeform. I think that pattern could be powerful for lots of "mandated" learning, like boring compliance stuff. He's using Softr so it's a no-code build. I'll then handle the backend for the Proposal generator itself in n8n. I'll show how you can use Serial AI Agents and other chain steps to get a more consistent and higher quality output from GenAI. We'll give the agents tools to pull knowledge like price lists, verify that output, then generate high quality proposals to serve in-app. Think there will be some interesting agentic workflow design patterns in there for eager learners, even if you're not trying to build this specific usecase.
