𝗕𝘂𝗺𝗽, 𝘀𝗲𝘁, 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗸𝗲. ☀️🏐 The sun is back in Berlin and so are the summer vibes at Knowunity! Just steps from our HQ is BeachMitte, the perfect spot for some midday volleyball and a healthy dose of (totally friendly 😅) competition. We love grabbing last-minute courts around lunchtime to get outside, soak up the sun, and recharge before heading back in. We also happen to be weekend warriors in the volleyball department. What can we say…we really do love a competition 👀 With our yearly summer event coming up as well, we’re feeling like there is a lot to look forward to!

𝗧𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗺𝘂𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝘄𝗹? 👀 We spotted that line on a slide this weekend at the {Tech: Europe} Berlin AI Hackathon. Don’t worry, this isn’t a callout post...we know better than to pick a fight with Duo, Duolingo 😬 What we 𝘥𝘰 want to say is: the hackathon this past weekend was a huge success, and we were thrilled to be part of it! From Knowunity’s side, we hosted a track on something close to our mission: personalized education. In other words, making learning truly adaptive to every individual student’s needs and learning style. Massive shoutout to Daniel Montano and Vladyslav. Korobka for winning both our track prize and the overall hackathon! 🎉 The competition was tough, and every team that tackled the challenge brought impressive ideas to the table. And thank you to Bela Wiertz and the entire {Tech: Europe} team for organizing such an energizing event. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗔𝗜 🤖 Last night, at our Berlin HQ, we brought the discussion live. We welcomed a full house of engineers, product minds, and entrepreneurs for an evening all about 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀. From Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to evaluation loops and LLM tracing, we dove deep into the real technical and practical challenges teams are navigating right now. The conversations were rich, the questions sharp, and the energy high (fueled by 🍕!!). Over a year ago, they built a workaround for Knowunity 👏 Thanks to their passion and dedication, our AI Chat has already been helping students learn with diagrams, models, maps, and more. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗘𝗢 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘁 🔥 Last week, our founder & CEO Benedict Kurz hosted an online session with students from New York University, diving into the realities of founding and scaling a startup. The session was organized by Joshua Shapiro, our Head of U.S. Product & Growth (and part of the faculty at NYU!), who asked the students to come prepared with the tough questions. And they did. Here are some of the standout takeaways and wisdom from someone who’s been there: 💡 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰: "Never start a company just for the funding round." Build something that delivers real value. Funding is a byproduct, not the goal. 💡 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵: Listening to users, moving fast, and staying close to the community helped take Knowunity from launch to over 100K active users in our pre-seed stage. 💡 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘆): Early on, it’s easy to hire for capacity or big titles. But what really matters is cultural fit. Our core values — like "be fast, not perfect" & "roll up your sleeves" — guide us to the kind of talent who believe in both what we’re building and how we’re building it. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗶𝗱 Knowunity 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀? Well, sit back - this one reads like a startup bedtime story. 😴📖 It was end of 2020. The Knowunity app had just launched, and our co-founders Benedict Kurz, Gregor Weber, Lucas Hild, and Yannik Prigl were determined to get students on board. With money raised from family and friends, they reached out to ten influencers, hoping their content would drive users to the app. At first? 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. The videos didn’t convert. But then, a breakthrough. One influencer’s video went viral, and just like that, Knowunity hit over 𝟭𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. And so it began. 🚀 We shared this story with the visiting students from Brightdale last week (video from that session 👇), sparking a great discussion about what it really takes to grow a startup. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 👀 Last week, we had the privilege of welcoming not one, but two incredible groups to our Berlin HQ - START Global Fellowship Accelerator and Brightdale. Lately, we’ve seen more and more student and founder groups coming through our doors. And while we’re busy being “fast, not perfect” (👈 one of our core values) here at Knowunity, we make time for these conversations. 𝗪𝗵𝘆? Because we believe in giving back to the ecosystem that helped us grow. We wouldn’t be here without it. But there’s also a selfish reason. 😉 The young people visiting us are the bright minds shaping the future. Like last week we learned of one founder in the START Fellowship Accelerator who is also making waves in education with Sign Link, a pioneering platform making sign languages more accessible worldwide.
