🚀 DIF is thrilled to announce the launch of two significant new work items within our Identifiers & Discovery Working Group! 🆔 DID Traits and Trust DID Web are set to enhance the functionality and security of Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs), bringing the next level of trust, interoperability, and ease of use to the ecosystem. A new work item has been started at Decentralized Identity Foundation called DID Traits 🎉 Have you ever wondered how the ~190 Decentralized Identifier methods are different from one another so you can pick the one that best suits your use case? The DID Traits work item aims to answer this question. We will deliver two results: 1. A list of traits (features) that are relevant to use cases. 2. A JSON data format for describing the supported traits of DID methods. "JC is one of the rare individuals who combine strong technical expertise and creativity with community leadership abilities. Within a relatively short period of time, he has attracted a lot of interest in his work, which is already being adopted, such as Linked VPs and DID Traits. Have you asked yourself before whether the website you're visiting actually belongs to the company you think it belongs to .. and whether the advertised partnerships and certifications are authentic? Well, this is a difficult verification task that I hope we can simplify with existing #SSI technologies. At the second session I'm planning to host tomorrow at Digital Identity unConference Europe | DICE, I'll present the recent #DIF Linked Verifiable Presentations specification (https://lnkd.in/dmzVzD_r). It extends the trust and security properties of DIDs and Verifiable Credentials to data that is publicly accessible, e.g. on websites. Currently, a number of use cases are being explored, from ecommerce to digital product passports and company passports. I'm looking forward to hearing from implementers and exploring new use cases.

#DICE is around the corner, the European version of #IIW 🎉 Next week, I'll go down to Zurich and present the Decentralized Identity Foundation Linked Verifiable Presentations specification 😃 Imagine what the internet would be like with a verifiable data layer. Website owners, logos and other claims they make could actually be verified. No more guessing whether this web shop actually belongs to a registered company in your country and has all the certifications the website suggests they have! At #IIW38 Stephen Curran and his team introduced us to a new, super secure DID method - did:tdw - that takes the simple and widely used did:web DID method to another level. This is great news: simple and secure is what I've been waiting for 😃 I'm looking forward to meeting Stephen at DICE and share about a self-sovereign identity and data service that I've been working on for some time: did-web-server.
