  • Yesterday, #EASA had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from the Working Party on Aviation (AVIA) and the Polish Council Presidency to our headquarters in Cologne.   Our Executive Director, Florian Guillermet, and colleagues from our Certification, Flight Standards, and Strategy & Safety Management Directorates, gave an overview of EASA’s mandate, financial framework and future priorities. We explored key topics such as certification activities, sustainability initiatives, ATM/ANS developments and drones and Innovative Air Mobility.   Did you know that there’s a strong link between Member States' roles in the EASA Management Board and their work within the Council of the European Union? While the Management Board supports our mandate through collaboration with national aviation authorities, the Council, via AVIA, plays a central role in shaping aviation legislation across the EU. AVIA addresses civil aviation matters, from regulatory development to #safety and environmental standards. It consists of representatives from all #EU Member States and the Council Secretariat and meets regularly. Institutions like the European Commission or EASA are invited when technical expertise is required.   For this reason, we have agreed to continue regular exchanges. Stronger ties with European institutions and adopting the Team Europe approach help us to coordinate better and speak with one voice to tackle challenges more effectively.   👉 https://lnkd.in/g5BMHgWC 👉 https://lnkd.in/euWeEDWC

  • This week #EASA has been at the AERO Friedrichshafen trade show. The event showcases the European aviation community, spanning business aviation, traditional general aviation, rotorcraft and drones. There have been four major activities: ✈️ Initiatives to Prevent Mid-Air Collisions: At a conference on Wednesday, EASA launched two new initiatives aimed at preventing mid-air collisions. The ¡Conspicuity Declaration jointly established by 11 participating aviation authorities and other entities aims to facilitate and encourage the use of ¡Conspicuity devices and technical standards. While the ADS-L Coalition provides a common equipment standard for enhancing situational awareness. The goal is to put, low-cost, interoperable systems in the hands of every pilot. ✈️ New Safety Promotion Initiative with Elixir Aircraft: EASA launched a new safety promotion initiative with Elixir Aircraft on handling engine failures, avoiding stalls and the importance of pilot’s knowing their aircraft systems. ✈️ Propulsion Information Sessions: EASA provided information sessions on hybrid-electric propulsion systems and prevention of power loss on Rotax equipped aircraft. The latter topic relies on occurrence reports from GA pilots, with information from maintenance staff of the technical issues involved. ✈️ AERO Career Days: The aviation community continues to grow and faces challenges recruiting the next generation due to competition from other industries. EASA joined other aviation employers at the AERO Career Days to promote careers in aviation to the next generation. There were a number of stands highlighting the wide range of exciting jobs in the industry. More information: https://lnkd.in/erMQhjUa
