🌍❄️ 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 – DHL and the German Bobsleigh, Luge, and Skeleton Federation (Bob- und Schlittenverband - BSD). Since 2014, we’ve been a proud partner of the BSD, supporting the athletes not only on the track but behind the scenes as well. This year, we’re taking on another 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲: For the Bobsleigh World Championship in Lake Placid (March 3–16), we from DHL Global Event Logistics are transporting: ➡️ 15 bobsleigh crates weighing approx. 13,500 kg ➡️ 10 skeleton crates weighing nearly 1,000 kg 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻? Completing the journey – over 6,100 km – including customs clearance, from Oberhof to Lake Placid within just one week. After the championship, the journey continues: 👉 Back to Germany and for some of the crates onward to Cortina d’Ampezzo for the next test races. 🚛💨 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 – this effort showcases the importance of teamwork and precision in bringing the excitement of winter sports to life. 🎙️ Want an exclusive look behind the scenes of bobsleigh? 🎻𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝗩𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲" – 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁! 🎻 Last week, we from DHL Global Event Logistics handled a particularly exciting transport. In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, the "𝗩𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲" were played last week; violins that once belonged to victims of the Holocaust. These unique instruments carry a story of loss and survival. There are 65 violins, each with its own moving story. While the monetary value of each violin is relatively modest, the value in terms of memory is immeasurable. These violins are not only instruments but witnesses to a painful past, and a symbol of survival and hope. The transport of the violins was carried out under the highest standards, temperature-controlled and with the utmost care. Robert Weckwerth & Laura Ziegltrum and their team from @DHL Air Freight / DHL Global Forwarding worked closely alongside Andreas Mattick from DHL Global Event Logistics in organizing and loading, ensuring that these precious instruments reached their destination – the 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗸-𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻 – safely. The premiere in the Berliner Philharmoniker, where these violins were played by musicians, was not just a concert, but a powerful testament to the power of music in keeping history alive and passing it on. It reminds us of how important it is to preserve the memories of dark chapters in history and honor the voices of the survivors.
