Palmer meets CustomCells! 🫱🏻🫲🏻 Heute hatten wir die Ehre, den Oberbürgermeister von #Tübingen, Boris Palmer und Thorsten Flink von der Wirtschaftsförderung Tübingen bei CustomCells begrüßen zu dürfen. Gemeinsam mit unserem COO, Dr. Christoph Falk, Anika Keller (Head of EHS) und Imanuel Streib (Head of Production) führten wir inspirierende Gespräche über die Zukunft der Batterietechnologie und die Bedeutung von Innovationen für unsere Region. Ein zentrales Thema war unser aktuelles Projekt: Die Errichtung einer Pilotfertigung für großformatige #Rundzellen (46mm) an unserem Standort in Tübingen. Dieses Vorhaben wird im Rahmen des "Roundabout"-Projekts vom Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst Baden-Württemberg mit acht Millionen Euro gefördert und in Zusammenarbeit mit renommierten wissenschaftlichen Partnern wie dem Zentrum für Sonnenenergie- und Wasserstoff-Forschung Baden-Württemberg (ZSW), dem Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft für Produktionstechnik und Automatisierung (IPA) sowie dem Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) umgesetzt. We are proud to be a key corporate partner in the “Roundabout” research project, funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg with eight million euros. Together with our esteemed scientific partners — Fraunhofer IPA, Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT), and Zentrum für Sonnenenergie- und Wasserstoff-Forschung Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) — we are advancing the next generation of high-performance cylindrical battery cells ⚡🔄. A crucial milestone is the establishment of our state-of-the-art pilot production facility in #Tübingen 🏭🔧. This project bridges the gap between research and industrial-scale production, strengthening Baden-Württemberg’s position as a leader in battery technology. 💬 Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister of Economic Affairs (Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Arbeit und Tourismus Baden-Württemberg), emphasizes the strategic importance of the project: "Battery storage systems play a central role in the structural change of the automotive industry. As the state government, we have decided to support battery research with eight million euros through the practice-oriented 'Roundabout' research project. The overall goal of the project is to build up the overall expertise in Baden-Württemberg in the field of next-generation round cells and thus boost innovation for the battery ecosystem in the state." 💬 Dr. Christoph Falk, COO of CustomCells, highlights what this means for Germany’s position in battery technology: "We are using the innovative power of Baden-Württemberg — and strengthening it enormously with this project.
