Are marketers willing to make changes in their work for people and the planet? ✊🌍ˎˊ˗ This question sparked some research at the beginning of 2025. I wanted to know how marketers and communicators in our Berlin community felt about aligning their work with sustainable values and wearing the ‘ecomarketer’ hat in their day-to-day. So, like a marketer, I created a survey. Here are some key takeaways ⤵ → 75% of participants mentioned thinking about the planetary crisis at least once a week. → However, less than half are aware of marketing’s eco and social impact. → Fewer are actively making meaningful action in their work. → 87% of respondents shared that they want to see more action from our industry. → 75% would make changes in their work to reduce their impact on people and the planet. My biggest takeaway: our community has the drive to do better. We want to make meaningful change, but the gaps—education, understanding of what works, and support internally—are still hindering our journey. Where do we go from here? ⤵ Awareness is at an all-time high. 🩵 1. Skill up on climate topics and greenwashing. 2. Join communities of like-minded communicators and marketers to push the topic forward. (Conscious Marketing Movement, Clean Creatives, Creatives for Climate, Freelancing For Good (FFG), The Green Marketing Academy™) 3.
