Info
CIEE Berlin works with faculty, undergraduate & high school students to provide academic & internship programmes. Founded after World War II to promote peace and to build lifelong connections across countries and borders, CIEE now has more than 40 centres around the world that welcome US undergraduates, interns, high school students and scholars. CIEE Berlin has its own “campus” in the heart of Kreuzberg – eight classrooms, a dormitory with 214+ beds, student lounges, a lobby with a café and event rooms. CIEE Berlin offers a variety of programs for different groups. Although we do not offer degrees, all of our courses at partner universities in the USA can be counted toward a bachelor's degree. We offer a rich array of internship placements for students so that they may experience working life in Berlin and building mutually beneficial professional relationships with local organisations. Students can be with us for 6 weeks, 18 weeks to a full academic year and we build a strong academic and social community with them, no matter how long they stay with us. For more details on our internship programme or for hiring our building, please visit www.cieeberlin.org

This week, representatives from 16 universities and CIEE participated in a thought-provoking discussion on how to make study abroad more inclusive for all students. 🌍 From increasing accessibility and diversifying destination options to streamlining application processes and improving on-site experiences, the conversation highlighted the many ways we can break down barriers to global education. Thanks and congratulations to our Director of Student Life of CIEE Berlin, Eric Ginola, for representing CIEE at the Education Abroad Forum 2025 Annual Conference in Toronto and for sharing your insights with us. “It was enlightening and inspiring to see a shared commitment to creating meaningful and equitable study abroad opportunities. I look forward to continuing these conversations and turning ideas into action.” #StudyOverseas #InclusiveEducation #GlobalOpportunities #HigherEducation.

"Berlin has stolen my heart!" – These words from Emerson Eller da Silva perfectly capture the magic of studying abroad in Germany’s vibrant capital. The first program of 2025 at CIEE Berlin, January in Berlin, brought together students from diverse majors for an immersive three-week experience. Through dynamic courses, eye-opening excursions, and deep dives into Berlin’s rich history and innovative future, students gained far more than just classroom knowledge—they lived and breathed the city. Emerson, a participant in this year’s program, shares his journey of discovery, learning, and inspiration in Berlin. 😍 Read on the link to hear about his experience!

🌍 Nan Goldin: This Will Not End Well at the Neue Nationalgalerie 🇩🇪 Our Open Campus students visited the Nan Goldin’s first major retrospective at Berlin’s Neue Nationalgalerie and it was both moving and thought-provoking. Goldin, a pioneering photographer and multimedia artist, has spent decades documenting marginalized communities, LGBTQ+ life, the AIDS crisis, and the opioid epidemic—transforming personal narratives into powerful social commentary. Berlin played a crucial role in her artistic journey. In the early 1990s, Goldin lived in the city, capturing its underground culture during a time of immense transformation. Seeing her work displayed in this historic museum—a symbol of modernism and resilience—felt especially fitting. This exhibition reminds us of the power of visual storytelling and how art can drive conversations that matter. A must-visit for anyone passionate about photography, activism, and cultural history.
