What a night at SF Climate Week 2025! 🌿 Last night, Carbonfuture, Carbon Business Council, ClimeFi, Isometric, NextGen CDR, and XPRIZE brought together over 100 carbon removal leaders—from suppliers and corporate buyers to policymakers, investors, and industry leaders. Hosted at Swissnex in San Francisco and emceed by Leila Toplic, Chief Communications & Trust Officer at Carbonfuture, the evening underscored a clear takeaway: Carbon removal is gaining momentum—and scaling it will require demand, policy, and innovation working in sync. 🔹 Ben Rubin (Carbon Business Council) opened with a pulse check on the market, sharing the momentum across supply, demand, and policy. 🔹 Rachel Shepherd (California Energy Commission) shared how California is helping scale CDR across the state—and beyond. Combining policy, investment, and public procurement. 🔹 Michael Berger (Microsoft) offered a buyer’s perspective on what corporate leadership on carbon removal looks like: removing emissions now and investing at scale to help build the foundation for a functioning CDR market and ensure that we have the supply to meet our climate goals. 🌏 A major highlight: Carbonfuture announced an exclusive dMRV partnership with Biomass Projects in Australia—set to become one of the world’s largest biochar carbon removal initiatives. Powered by Carbonfuture MRV+, the project will remove over 500,000 tonnes of CO2 annually by 2028, transforming invasive mesquite into durable carbon removal while supporting ecosystem restoration and Indigenous-led land stewardship. One attendee summed it up best: “It was great to take a moment to celebrate collective progress and connect with those building the CDR market.” Were you there?
