A common solution for city cleaning is a sweeping machine - efficient and effective. But when it comes to cleaning offroad surfaces, most people don’t actually know how it’s done. Why? Because there are few alternatives to manual trash collection, so cleaning personnel have to do it by hand - which quickly pushes city cleaning to its limits. This results in crowded public green spaces – first filled with people, and later, with trash. How can a robot help? Another New Year’s celebration has passed, and once again, city cleaning crews worked tirelessly to clean up the aftermath. In 2023, it took 200 people three full days to manually remove trash from green areas in Munich alone, as traditional cleaning machines couldn’t be used. Although out of the standard trash distribution, our AI could generalize well on the firework trash. A step closer to transforming how cities could clean public spaces. Happy New Year, everyone!
