Team AEROC is growing! 🌱 We’re happy to welcome two incredible new team members who bring deep scientific expertise to our mission of scaling Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW). 🪨 Dr. Jonas Tusch joins us as a geochemist, bringing a wealth of knowledge in mineral weathering processes and carbon sequestration dynamics. His work will be central to understanding and optimizing the geochemical mechanisms behind our ERW solutions. 🌾 Casper Wijckmans comes aboard as a soil scientist, focused on the interface between crushed rock and living soil. His insights will guide how we enhance soil health while removing CO₂ from the atmosphere. Both Jonas and Casper strengthen AEROC’s science-first approach and help us advance towards durable, measurable, and nature-based carbon removal — right here in Germany and across Europe. Aeroc schützt das Klima und revolutioniert die Landwirtschaft durch Enhanced Rock Weathering. Dabei wird gemahlenes Basaltgestein genutzt, um CO₂ dauerhaft aus der Atmosphäre zu entfernen. Der Prozess umfasst die Zerkleinerung des Gesteins, die Ausbringung auf landwirtschaftlichen Flächen wo das CO₂ durch eine chemische Reaktionen gebunden wird sowie die Quantifizierung des gebundenen CO₂. Die so erzeugten CO₂-Negativemissionen ermöglichen es Unternehmen Ihre nicht reduzierbaren Emissionen wieder zurückzugewinnen. Gleichzeitig können durch die Technologie Ernteerträge gesteigert, landwirtschaftliche Böden verbessert und die Kosten von Landwirtschaftsbetrieben gesenkt werden. Aeroc wurde im April 2024 in Köln gegründet und wurde bereits im Juni erfolgreich vom Ministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Verkehr des Landes NRW für eine hohe sechsstellige Fördersumme ausgewählt. 🚀 Project Kick-Off: Enhanced Rock Weathering in Germany 🌱 We’re thrilled to officially announce the launch of our first Enhanced Rock Weathering project. 🎉 The project is funded for two years by the European Union and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. With this great financial support and together with our valued parter Naturland e.V., we aim to accelerate the development of a scalable solution to permanently remove CO₂ from the atmosphere through Enhanced Rock Weathering.
