The second day of MWC Barcelona 2025 exceeded my expectations.
The event is filled with inspiring people, engaging speeches, and lively discussions about Stella#5, our omnichannel self-service builder for telecoms, and the XME.digital enterprise integration middleware platform.
I also had the opportunity to attend two enlightening sessions that showcased AI's transformative power in telecommunications and explored evolving consumer expectations in mobile technology.
Here are my key takeaways:
🔹 Telkomsel achieved 95% accuracy in network planning with AI, resulting in a 2–5% revenue increase by identifying unconnected #5G handset users.
🔹 AI-driven automation reduced power consumption by 35% by deactivating systems when the load dropped below 30%, offering significant cost savings, especially in energy-challenged regions.
🔹 AI predicted network issues before they escalated, leading to a 38% reduction in customer complaints.
🔹 Automated monitoring now handles 98% of tasks, requiring human intervention only for targeted alerts, thereby transforming staffing efficiency.
🔹 AI optimised infrastructure routes in Uganda, reducing the cost per home passed for fibre deployment from $350 to just $100.
🔹 One-third of consumers are ready to replace physical passports/licenses with digital versions.
🔹 Consumers demand single, flexible subscription models covering devices, services, and protection.
🔹 The future: Pay one monthly price for a complete mobile ecosystem - devices, protection, simplicity.
A huge thank you to the brilliant panellists at #MWC25: Enzo Scarcella from MTN, Moelky Furqan from Telkomsel and Marlan K. Hardie from World Wide Technology, moderator Abhishek Sandhir from Sand Technologies, Kevin Gillan and Karl Wiley from SquareTrade.
