Σε εθνικό επίπεδο, η χώρα μας υλοποιεί, ήδη, ένα συνεκτικό και στοχευμένο νέο οικονομικό μοντέλο. Η Κύπρος αλλάζει — όχι σε θεωρητικό επίπεδο αλλά στην πράξη, μέσα από στρατηγικό σχεδιασμό, αποφασιστικότητα και μετρήσιμα αποτελέσματα. Το 2024 πετύχαμε ρυθμό ανάπτυξης 3,4%, από τους υψηλότερους στην Ευρωζώνη, ενώ η πρόβλεψη για το 2025 είναι στο 3,1%. Η ανεργία υποχώρησε κάτω από το 5%, με τη νεανική ανεργία να παρουσιάζει τη μεγαλύτερη μείωση ανάμεσα στις χώρες τις ΕΕ και την απασχόληση να έχει φτάσει το 80%. Παράλληλα, μέσα από την υπεύθυνη δημοσιονομική μας πολιτική, το πρωτογενές πλεόνασμα για το 2024 ξεπέρασε το 4% και το δημόσιο χρέος έχει μειωθεί σημαντικά, με στόχο να διαμορφωθεί κάτω από το 60% του ΑΕΠ μέχρι το 2026. Με αυτό τον τρόπο, ανάμεσα σε άλλα, θωρακίζουμε και την οικονομία μας απέναντι σε εξωτερικές προκλήσεις, καθιστώντας την πιο ανθεκτική. Οι επιδόσεις που προανέφερα είναι το αποτέλεσμα ενός σταθερού προσανατολισμού, βασισμένου σε τρεις αρχές που δεν πρόκειται να αλλάξουν: δημοσιονομική υπευθυνότητα, χρηματοοικονομική σταθερότητα και συνεχείς μεταρρυθμίσεις. Ενός καθαρού προσανατολισμού που αναγνωρίζεται διεθνώς. Εξού και για πρώτη φορά από το 2011, όλοι οι μεγάλοι οίκοι αξιολόγησης κατέταξαν ξανά την Κύπρο στην Κατηγορία Α. Και μόλις πριν δύο εβδομάδες, το Διεθνές Νομισματικό Ταμείο επεσήμανε ότι η κυπριακή οικονομία χαρακτηρίζεται από “ευκινησία, ανθεκτικότητα και σημαντικές δυνατότητες περαιτέρω ανάπτυξης”. In an era defined by rapid transformation and geopolitical complexity, #Cyprus is stepping forward with clarity and purpose to reinforce its position on the global investment map. From 3 to 9 April, President Nikos Christodoulides visited NY, Houston, and San Francisco, leading a delegation of key government officials including the Chairman, Mr. Evgenios Evgeniou, and CEO, Mr. Marios Tannousis, of Invest Cyprus in a strategic mission aimed at deepening bilateral economic ties and enhancing Cyprus’ profile as a business and innovation hub. As the national investment promotion agency, Invest Cyprus participated in high-level meetings with top-tier #USA companies and organized two targeted roundtable discussions. The visit commenced in NY, where Invest Cyprus hosted a private roundtable with senior executives from top-tier U.S. investment banks, private equity firms, fintech innovators, and strategic investors. President Christodoulides presented Cyprus as one of the fastest growing EU economies, with sound fiscal indicators and a strategic geographic location bridging Europe, Middle East, & Africa. The roundtable served as an impactful platform to convey Cyprus’ advantages directly to influential financial leaders and underscore our readiness to foster long-term partnerships. The Chairman of Invest Cyprus also participated in a panel discussion at the Capital Link: Cyprus Business Forum, where investment opportunities across Cyprus’ key sectors were highlighted. A notable moment was the symbolic ringing of the NYSE Closing Bell by President Christodoulides, joined by Mr. Polys Hajioannou, CEO of Safe Bulkers Inc. In San Francisco, Invest Cyprus organized another targeted roundtable led by the President Christodoulides. The engagement revealed significant interest from Silicon Valley executives in Cyprus as a partner for expansion, collaboration, and innovation in Europe and beyond. Meetings with senior executives from Tenstorrent, Plug and Play Tech Center, NVIDIA, Oracle, Google and Amazon further underscored the island’s relevance as a strategic innovation hub. As the tech world increasingly seeks stable, skilled, and scalable EU-based partners, Cyprus presents a compelling case. The growth of the ICT sector, currently contributing 14% of GDP, the fact that Cyprus is the only South European country that is a Strong Innovator in the EU and specific success stories were presented. In San Francisco the President and his team also met with Cypriots working in the silicon valley area.   Throughout this mission, President Christodoulides powerfully articulated Cyprus’ commitment to sustainable development, international cooperation, and economic excellence.
