📌Annual ERIC CH Symposium 2025📌   Last week, SERI hosted the third Annual ERIC CH Symposium. This year's theme was Research Infrastructures as Enablers of Open Science. The event was a resounding success, thanks to the insightful contributions from various stakeholders, and especially to all our national nodes from the various ERICs for their always crisp 90-second ⏰ pitches Swiss Biobanking Platform (BBMRI), CLARIN-CH, DARIAH-CH, FORS - Swiss Centre of Expertise in the Social Sciences (SHARE, ESS, CESSDA, GGP), ACTRIS-CH, Swiss Clinical Trial Organisation (ECRIN), ICOS - Integrated Carbon Observation System, eLTER, EMPHASIS on Plant Phenomics, SLICES_CH.   Our keynote speaker, Ivana Ilijasic Versic, ELIXIR Head of Operations, delivered a compelling talk on the significance, challenges, and opportunities of Open Science for research infrastructures.   We also enjoyed a lively panel discussion with the ERI partners from the ETH Domain, Schweizerischer Nationalfonds SNF, Akademien der Wissenschaften Schweiz and swissuniversities.   Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of this event. Wie er in seiner Stellungnahme zum «Entlastungspaket 27» schreibt, wären die Folgen für die Schweiz gravierend. Der SNF müsste mindestens 500 zusätzliche, innovative Forschungsprojekte ablehnen. Die Resultate dieser Projekte sind für Wirtschaft, Gesellschaft und Verwaltung von zentraler Bedeutung. 🚨The SNSF welcomes the Federal Council's approval of the EU Programmes Agreement. This decision confirms Switzerland’s retroactive association to #HorizonEurope starting on 1 January 2025, enabling Swiss researchers to participate in nearly all programme calls. Organoids - very simply: so-called mini-organs that are grown in the lab from stem cells - open up countless new possibilities, for example for investigating diseases or carrying out toxicity tests. They could ultimately be used in a wide range of settings and have an impact on the 3Rs, by refining, reducing and, to an extent, replacing animal testing.
