Morkor is a Medical Officer at the World Health Organization in Geneva, leading work on the elimination of vertical transmission and women’s health in HIV in the Treatment and Care team of the Global HIV, Hepatitis and STI Programmes. For decades, it has provided comprehensive, person-centred care – from prevention and testing to treatment and support services. ⚕️ Quality HIV care is about more than just medicine – it’s about trust, dignity and ensuring that no one is left behind. 🏡 Stable housing supports healthcare! At the #IASPCC Advocacy Academy, fellows and faculty visited Status: Home to explore how housing-first models improve health outcomes for people living with HIV. 📢 Person-centred care in action! At the #IASPCC Advocacy Academy in Atlanta, Georgia – fellows and faculty explored real-world strategies to strengthen person-centred HIV care. Breakout discussions focused on: ⚕️ Client and healthcare provider experience measures – how to ensure care meets real needs. ️💬 Motivational interviewing – using conversation to empower decision making. 🗣️ Supporting effective communication – building trust in healthcare. 👩🏿⚕️ Empowering community healthcare workers – making task shifting work. 🌐 Creating inclusive and safe spaces – ensuring dignity for all. 👥 The role of upstanders – how to challenge stigma and discrimination. These conversations will help shape the future of HIV care – where people come first! 🤰 Today we mark International Day for Maternal Health and Rights and join the global movement calling for every person’s right to respectful, quality, safe and comprehensive maternal healthcare.
