Engaging Risk Education sessions which captivate young people! 🎈 Teaching children how to stay safe from landmines and explosive ordnance is a serious endeavour, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be exciting! In Mindanao, our teams use role plays, balloons, and interactive demonstrations to make risk education sessions both fun and memorable. This approach helps catch and retain the attention of younger audiences, ensuring they learn and apply the right behaviours to stay safe. FSD's Deputy Head of Operations, Angela De Santis, PhD PMP, enthusiastically took part in the NDM side event "Common Operational Datasets and Streamlined Reporting for Mine Action," alongside Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), APOPO , MAG (Mines Advisory Group), and the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) during the 28th International Meeting of Mine Action National Directors & UN Advisers in Geneva. The session focused on the need for standardised data collection and reporting mechanisms in mine action to improve efficiency, accuracy, and collaboration. Speakers shared practical solutions, new technologies, and ways to improve collaboration between organizations. By standardising how we collect and share information, we can make demining efforts safer, faster, and more impactful worldwide. 🪝Mastering Hook and Line Techniques Our teams in Ukraine recently completed advanced training in safely removing dangerous objects. As part of this, they learned how to use hook and line techniques—a method that helps to move suspicious or dangerous items from a safe distance. By using ropes, pulleys, and special tools, deminers can carefully pull or move objects or open doors without putting themselves in harm’s way. This technique is especially useful in tricky situations, such as when explosives are discovered in vehicles or buildings. #HumanitarianDemining #MineAction #Ukraine #Training

👉 Lire l'article: https://lnkd.in/dkkj7nqv #deminagehumanitaire #IMAD #Mineaction

“Of course, the task ahead is huge and will take many years to complete, but if we look at the progress made on the land currently accessible to humanitarian demining in Ukraine, we have reason to be optimistic”, says Hansjörg Eberle, Director of FSD. On this International Mine Awareness Day, we share a message of hope: the geopolitical situation may be extremely tense, and the future uncertain, but one thing is clear—humanitarian demining works. Every day, lives are changed. Parents can let their children play outside without fear. Farmers can return to their fields. Families can rebuild their homes and their futures. We take this opportunity to express our gratitude to our staff, donors, partners, and all those working towards a world free of landmines. 📢 Read our press release: https://lnkd.in/eAvrq8GF #MineAwarenessDay #IMAD #InternationalMineAwarenessDay #Landmine #Ukraine #Demining
