Lattuada Group has recently published an article in the journal Nanotoxicology entitled, "Chemometrical assessment of adverse effects in lung cells induced by vehicle engine emissions", in collaboration with Fink Research Group. This study employs machine learning to identify key components in vehicle engine exhaust responsible for lung cell toxicity, using reanalyzed in vitro data from 3D airway models exposed to gasoline and diesel emissions. Thrilled to announce that our startup SEPARATIC received the Startup Grant from the Université de Fribourg - Universität Freiburg alongside Xemperia and Bewe Lab! This important milestone brings the total funds raised for SEPARATIC to CHF 1 million, including support from BRIDGE Funding Programme PoC Grant, Gebert Rüf Stiftung InnoBooster, Innosuisse projects, Venture Kick (Stages 1 and 2), and other awards. The grant enables us to move our #Hydrogen #Separator #Membrane #Technology (SEPARATIC-H2) forward from Stage 1: Testing to Stage 2: Co-development, starting our exciting collaboration with Plastic Omnium. We are excited about our new Swiss National Science Foundation SNSF project targetting environmentally friendly separation of lignocellulosic biomass-derived chemicals using macrocycles and macrocyclic polymers. One of the most ambitious goals of the project is to crack the code of native lignin. We are looking forward to working together with Prof. Michael Studer from Berner Fachhochschule BFH and Ognjen Miljanic from the University of Houston. University of Fribourg, Department of Chemistry has started new lecture series entitled “De Diesbach Lectures”, organized by Prof. Katharina M Fromm, in the honor of Prof. Henri Bernard de Diesbach** who was credited for the discovery of phthalocyanine dyes. Our first lecturer was Prof. Jeffrey I. Gordon, who is a distinguished American biologist renowned for his pioneering research in the field of human microbiome studies. He currently serves as the Dr. Robert J. Glaser Distinguished University Professor and Director of the Edison Family Center for Genome Sciences & Systems Biology, and School of Medicine in Washington University in St. Louis It was a very interesting and enjoyable seminar for all the participants. #unifr #unifrchemistry #unifrresearch #university #fribourg **Prof. Henri Bernard de Diesbach (1880–1970) was a distinguished Swiss chemist and academic, known for his significant contributions to both organic and inorganic chemistry.
