Hello from the Costa Rican wilderness! 🇨🇷 This spring, a group of students from Pennsylvania and Illinois explored the depths of the Central American country, which boasts an epic landscape that is home to nearly 5% of the world’s biodiversity. Highlights from the program included visiting the Arenal region to see the largest volcano on the island and the La Fortuna Waterfall, exploring the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve in the Monteverde, and a crocodile river tour to get an up-close view of crocodiles and exotic birds in the Central Pacific Coast. The EF Study Abroad team had a great time at #AIEA2025! This week, Christian Meyer and Kendall Brostuen presented a session on the impact of first year programs on students with Kathleen Fairfax from Colorado State University and Sonia Feigenbaum from The University of Texas at Austin. During the session, CSU shared that 71% of students who participate in first-year programs intend to study abroad again, and UT Austin shared that when they asked applicants to UT whether they would be interested in starting their UT journey abroad, 1 in 5 applying students raised their hand. As the world changes, so do the needs of students — which is why EF Study Abroad has been laser focused to design and build extraordinary programs to power first year study abroad experiences.
