🚀 Last week, University Hospital Foundation hosted its first “Igniters Onsite” experience, where our Igniters gathered for the first time at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic to take part in hands-on emergency simulation procedures and received a tour of Canada’s first dedicated Stoke Ambulance. 🏥 Without the generous support of next-generation donors, our healthcare practitioners are not able to set ambitious objectives and strive to deliver higher levels of patient care for Canadians. 💡A huge thank you to our inaugural group of Igniters for joining us in transforming and redefining health! In our recent visit to the Kaye Edmonton Clinic we were able see, interact and educate ourselves about various healthcare technologies. I have even more respect for our healthcare workers and the responsible AI advancements in healthcare! The stroke ambulance with a scanner is the only one in Canada! If you know someone that has had a stroke, you know minutes matter. The business case put forward to purchase this ambulance explained how the scanner can reduce permanent damage and potentially reduce rehabilitation time in a hospital. Igniters has been a great opportunity to learn about healthcare advancement with a fun group of individuals. Can't wait to hear the pitches!!! This evening Dr. Míchelle Graham, Director Division of Cardiology, Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, shared the amazing therapies being delivered at the Maz thanks to the University Hospital Foundation. Dr. Graham also shared that every 42 seconds someone in North America has a heart attack and Edmonton has the lowest mortality rate as a result of a heart attack in Canada. Heart disease is impacting us and at the Maz we are doing something right. At the same time, we are seeing an increase in cardiac disease in young people. Through the work of the University Hospital Foundation we have the opportunity to change the trajectory through disease prevention and primary care. Please join us on this important journey.
