Taylor Hazell Architects was honored to serve as a Sandstone Sponsor for the Architectural Conservancy Ontario's 18th Annual Heritage Awards last week. Partner and co-founder Jill Taylor was part of the panel of jurors who reviewed the incredible array of projects. These spanned from large-scale restorations and adaptive reuse projects to community action projects by individuals and teams, many making commitments to sustainability and social justice. The night showcased the dedication of heritage advocates and practitioners across Ontario, including lifetime achievement award recipients Tamara Anson-Cartwright, Marilyn "Duffy" Davidson and Mary-Jean Page. Their unwavering commitment to preserving our cultural heritage inspires us to continue "fighting the good fight" and should inspire us to dedicate much-needed time and resources to advance this cause in the years ahead. The event, organized by the passionate ACO team and its volunteers, highlighted the organization’s remarkable 33-year journey in advocating for heritage conservation. At THA, our mission is to work on projects that honor history while embracing the future. Let’s keep building connections between our past and future, and advocate for legislation that supports these goals. And, let’s continue to expand cultural heritage preservation work to include the diverse stories embedded in our surroundings. #HeritageConservation #Architecture #THA #ConservationArchitects #ACOHeritageAwards #CulturalHeritage #Restoration #Preservation #AdaptiveReuse #OntarioArchitecture #Community

Welcome Irene Lee, our newest intern, at Taylor Hazell Architects! Irene is a 3rd-year architecture student from the University of Waterloo, and she’s already making an impact on our team. With a passion for handcrafting that started in high school, she’s found her love for the building process while working on projects here at THA. Her choice of architecture reflects her deep appreciation for the perfect blend of art and science. At THA, we believe in creating meaningful learning experiences for our interns, giving them hands-on opportunities to be part of the creative and technical processes that define our work. Irene’s journey is a great example of how interns can grow with us. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the importance of hands-on learning in architecture—share your experiences in the comments! #Internship #LearningByDoing #Mentorship #THATeam #ArtAndScience #ConservationArchitecture
