  • ❗️Skin Colour Shouldn’t Determine The Quality Of Your Healthcare❗️   Today, on International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (#IDERD), we at Skinopathy reaffirm our commitment to provide accessible inclusive dermatology care.   For decades, People of Colour have been misdiagnosed, overlooked, or diagnosed too late—simply because traditional dermatology tools have troubles detecting inflammation on darker skin tones.   🔸Skinopathy's AI-powered technology is breaking barriers, detecting subtle colour changes the human eye can’t see, delivering earlier, more accurate diagnoses for conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and even skin cancer. This is how we fight skin tone bias—by ensuring that dermatology works for all skin tones, not just some.   🔸#GetSkinHelp team of practitioners works together to provide the best care possible in shorter time accessible not only in-person, but virtually, bringing quality care to underserved regions.   The impact? Faster detection. Better treatment. Lives saved. Healthcare equality isn't just a goal—it's a necessity. No one should be overlooked because of their skin tone.   🙌Take action today: 1. 🩺 What Patients Teach Us: Uncovering the Hidden Challenges of Skin Health Sometimes, the smallest concerns can turn into life-changing moments. Lisa Chartrand’s story is a powerful reminder of why we need to advocate for our health and never ignore our instincts.    Back in December 2024, we had the privilege of speaking with Lisa about her mom’s health concerns. For two years, her mom had a small blemish on her cheek that simply wouldn’t go away. Despite her growing anxiety and the fact that she had previously been told of pre-cancerous cells in that same spot 10 years ago, her family physician dismissed it, claiming it was “nothing to worry about.” But Lisa, noticing the doubt and worry in her mom’s eyes, refused to let it go.    “I turned to Google to find other resources,” Lisa shared. That’s when she discovered #GetSkinHelp.    Initially hesitant about using technology, Lisa’s mom decided to give it a shot. After uploading photos of the blemish, the app flagged it as potentially skin cancer. This prompted them to schedule a virtual consultation with nurse practitioner Cheryl Yip. Cheryl’s expert care and reassurance led to a referral to a dermatologist—and ultimately, a life-saving diagnosis of #melanoma.    The surgery that followed successfully removed all the cancer. Lisa’s mom is now cancer-free—and the family is beyond grateful for that crucial second opinion.    ⚠️ The key takeaway? If something doesn’t feel right, don’t hesitate to seek a second opinion. Technology like GetSkinHelp is making it easier to get fast, accessible assessments, even if you’re unsure or unable to visit a doctor right away.    👩⚕️💻 Trust your instincts. Speak up. It could save your life.  If you have a skin concern, don’t wait—download the GetSkinHelp app today and get an AI-powered skin assessment. It could be the first step in catching something before it becomes a bigger issue.  https://lnkd.in/eEk_AJ4n    🔗 You can find the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gGMd-aUq     #HealthAdvocacy #SecondOpinion #SkinHealth #AI #DigitalHealth #HealthcareInnovation #MelanomaAwareness #SkinCancer #PatientStory

  • ✨ Shining a Light on the Vitiligo Patient Journey ✨     Skinopathy believes that medical innovation starts with truly understanding the patient experience—and the Vitiligo Research Foundation (VRF) is at the forefront of reshaping how vitiligo is seen, studied, and treated.   From mapping the patient journey to driving global advocacy through #WorldVitiligoDay, VRF has created a powerful model for grassroots activism, policy change, and pharmaceutical engagement. Their work highlights the realities faced by vitiligo patients, from delayed diagnoses to the emotional and financial burdens of treatment. And thanks to their efforts, vitiligo is no longer an overlooked condition—it's a field of rapid medical progress. Check this out in more detail: https://lnkd.in/gcknQr8D   🚀 Key takeaways from VRF’s groundbreaking work: 🔹 The Vitiligo Patient Journey Map is giving doctors and policymakers a deeper understanding of treatment gaps and patient struggles.   🔹 World Vitiligo Day has transformed from a grassroots movement into a global force, influencing legislation, research funding, and even FDA priorities.   🔹 Pharmaceutical interest is surging, with new treatments and market growth driven by patient advocacy and research.     As AI-driven dermatology pioneers, we at Skinopathy are inspired by VRF’s commitment to patient-centered innovation.
