Today is the International Day for Multilaterism and Diplomacy for Peace. Celebrated annually on April 24, this day is an affirmation of the United Nations charter, one of the pillars of the international system today. This day acknowledges the very principles that should be taken in achieving peaceful resolutions to conflicts among nations. Having been the multilateral framework par excellence for over 75 years, the United Nations play a big role in the prevention and removal of threats to peace. In achieving SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, we reinforce the power of multilateral efforts in advancing sustainable development. #SDGs #Sustainability #UofT #UTSC #UTM

On April 7, we celebrated World Health Day, marking the 77th anniversary of the World Health Organization’s founding in 1948. This day is dedicated to advocate and raise awareness around health issues that affect people all over the world. This year, the celebration of World Health Day kicks off a campaign focusing on maternal and newborn health, titled ‘Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures’. This campaign is aimed towards governments and health communities to increase their efforts in prioritizing women’s longer-term health and well-being, ending preventable maternal and newborn deaths. As we approach the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, let us continue to advocate for the good health and well-being of all around the world. To ensure healthy beginnings and hopeful futures, we must increase focus and investments on the health of mothers and babies. #WorldHealthDay #WorldHealthOrganization #UofT #UTSC #UTM
