Planting native trees and shrubs in damaged riparian areas helps limit erosion, sedimentation, and nutrient influx during runoff, improving water quality for fish and livestock. Using funding provided by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) in 2024, SAW implemented 6 riparian planting projects in southwest Saskatchewan. In 2025, SAW will implement 6 additional projects in southeast Saskatchewan along the Qu’Appelle River. SAW is currently looking for landowner partners for 2025 riparian planting projects. For more information, please email r.rutko@saskwatersheds.ca or call (306) 774-2136.
