Planting native trees and shrubs in damaged riparian areas helps limit erosion, sedimentation, and nutrient influx during runoff, improving water quality for fish and livestock. Using funding provided by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) in 2024, SAW implemented 6 riparian planting projects in southwest Saskatchewan. In 2025, SAW will implement 6 additional projects in southeast Saskatchewan along the Qu’Appelle River. SAW is currently looking for landowner partners for 2025 riparian planting projects. Fantastic work by SAW! 🌿 Restoring riparian zones with native vegetation is a powerful way to enhance water quality, stabilize banks, and support both aquatic life and agriculture. Great to see continued support from Fisheries and Oceans Canada and a strong commitment to watershed health across Saskatchewan. Looking forward to the 2025 projects along the Qu’Appelle River! 💧🌱
