Sometimes, people get tied up in knots over the topic of gender and pronouns simply because they don’t want to embarrass themselves or make someone they’re talking with feel bad. 🫠 A while back Onlea's multimedia design team worked with the Pride Centre of Edmonton to make some friendly explainer content covering some of the basics.  It’s been one of our most popular videos ever, and we’ve had organizations reach out to us to create similar resources for their teams and communities. (Find it on the Onlea YouTube and on Engage, our learning design resource hub!) We’ve also covered these topics working with teams like Centre for Sexuality and MT Consulting Group. It’s been heartening to work on these projects and see that despite many troubling headlines, there are plenty of transgender people living good lives, with friends, colleagues, neighbours, and family ready to learn and offer support. ❤️🩹 We wish you a joyful Transgender Day of Visibility this Monday, March 31st! 🏳️⚧️ #pride #inclusivity #DEI #learningdesign

Ever need people to just DO THE THING… and every time it’s like herding cats? 🐈🐈🐈 Attend the workshop. 🐈 Submit the form. 🐈 Register for the event. 🐈 Fill out the survey. 🐈 Complete the training module. 🐈 Renew the permit. 🐈 Schedule the appointment. 🐈 Some of this is just human nature… even the most competent, organized professionals drop the ball once in a while! But when a LOT of your audience is consistently not responding? Even when there are real consequences, like lost funding or a missed milestone? Something is getting in the way, and it needs to be dealt with. THINGS TO CONSIDER: ❓Do I know these people well? What am I missing? What am I assuming? ❓How do they usually get information that matters to them? ❓Are they even seeing my requests? ❓Is there a clear next step in my request? ❓What motivates them? What do they care about? ❓What frustrates them? What kinds of challenges are they dealing with? ❓Do they see a link between my request and their goals? Onlea often conducts empathy mapping workshops with client teams, where we chart out what we know (and don't know) about their community.
