FPInnovations and NuPort Robotics successfully organized an autonomous Class 8 truck demonstration on Class 1 gravel road in Northern Canada this past March. This trial, executed in dry and snow fall conditions with a safety driver present, allowed us to take a first glance at the ability of NuPort’s retrofitted tractor to navigate on a single-laned bridge, perform obstacle avoidance maneuvers, and adjust its speed and trajectory upon detection of oncoming traffic. #FPInnovations thanks #NuPort and industry partners who participated in this awesome milestone of the initiative. ---------- FPInnovations et NuPort Robotics ont organisé avec succès la démonstration d'un camion de classe 8 autonome sur une route de gravier de classe 1 dans le nord du Canada en mars dernier. With our scalable all-weatherproof enclosure, #NuPort has found a way to keep the words autonomy, safety and reliability in the same sentence. Our technology heavily relies on the usage of automotive grade hardware and robust software to guide trucks in navigating effectively. This new enclosure protects these sensors and keeps them in pristine condition despite severe snow, rain/water, dust, debris, and insect activity. With NuPort Robotics, operations can run as usual, anywhere and anytime globally.  Our technology has been successfully deployed in some of the most challenging environments (e.g., severe snowy and rainy cities in northern Canada) and continues to expand, improving accessibility and functionality in operations worldwide. NuPort Robotics is extremely honored to partner with  Innovate BC to test alternate fuel technologies being tested at the Port of Prince Rupert. This is of great importance to us as it supports our vision to increase sustainability through the adoption of clean transportation solutions. This will reduce greenhouse gas emissions locally and support decarbonization of global supply chains. We are excited to be working alongside multiple stakeholders in this project - Innovate BC, Prince Rupert Port Authority, BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, Transport Canada - Transports Canada, Gat Leedm Transportation Group, Velocity Truck Centres, Canada, Hydra Energy.
