About us

For over 20 years, NextUp has been bringing professional women, allies, and corporate partners together to champion gender equity and advance all women in their careers. Together, we are a powerful, growing community of over 14,000 members and 300+ regional and corporate sponsors. We work to create leadership opportunities, amplify women’s voices in the workplace, and ensure that ALL women in business can seize opportunities in the now and in the next. Founded in 2001, the Network of Executive Women represents more than 12,000 members, 950 companies, 21 regions and 100 corporate partners in retail, consumer goods, financial services and technology.   • 💠💠Meet the Speaker - Professor Maja💠💠 Professor Maja is a sociologist, author and TEDx speaker. She is a confidence-builder and apology-hater. She graduated with a Ph.D. in Sociology in 2014 (focusing on the sociology of women’s health). Her book "Hey Ladies, Stop Apologizing… and other career mistakes women make” and TEDx talk “How apologies kill our confidence” are a testament to her focus on building confidence in woman. Her full-time job is on the public speaking circuit where she give talks and workshops to women about all things related to confidence, communication and mindset. For almost a decade she also taught part-time in the Sociology Department of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario focusing on Sociology of Health. For the past 5 years she has been conducting a global study on women’s confidence and communication skills, talking to women about what influences their confidence, their use of apologies, and how they handle praise, success and failure. She is utterly fascinated and curious about all things confidence related. Before her career in executive search, Karen spent over 25 years in the Consumer Goods sector, holding marketing and leadership roles at industry-leading companies, including Clorox, Pfizer, Ocean Spray and Bellisio Foods.
