Data is a powerful tool in protecting nature. Our GIS Specialist, Tsogo Saikhan, leverages Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute’s data to make informed conservation decisions across Alberta. Check out this post to learn more! 👇
🔍 Data-driven conservation in action! 🌿 Tsogo Saikhan, GIS Specialist at the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), uses the ABMI’s freely available data to guide strategic land conservation decisions across Alberta. From identifying intact landscapes to assessing human footprint, ABMI datasets—like the Human Footprint Inventory, wetland inventories, and biodiversity indicators—help NCC maximize its impact for both nature and people. 📖 Read more about how Tsogo uses ABMI data in his guest blog: https://ow.ly/nqq450VpWyW 📊 Explore and download ABMI’s datasets yourself at https://ow.ly/Rz3F50VpWyV 🔍Explore the nearly 455,000 hectares of Alberta's most ecologically significant land and water that Nature Conservancy of Canada/Conservation de la nature Canada has worked to protect since 1970: https://ow.ly/6omm50VpWyU #OpenData #DataForGood #ABMIatWork 📸of Bunchberry Meadows by Sean Feagan

We’re always looking ahead to create a lasting impact for people and nature, but today, we’re pausing to celebrate the incredible wins we’ve achieved—thanks to you, our supporters! For over 50 years in British Columbia, donors have helped protect vital forests, grasslands, wetlands, and coastal ecosystems. Together, we’ve restored nature, planted trees, and reduced wildfire risks by thinning forests. With our partners, we’ve tackled invasive species, built fencing to protect sensitive habitats, and opened up natural spaces for people to explore. None of this would be possible without dedicated partners like Quails' Gate Winery. For 12 years, Quails’ Gate Winery has played a key role in conservation, helping to protect the landscapes that make this province so special. Thank you for being part of this important work! #ThankYouThursday 🌿✨

(Le français suit) Take a deep breath… and imagine yourself in a forest. The scent of pine, the rustling leaves, the birdsong above; nature is a natural stress reliever. Spending time in forests can reduce anxiety, boost mood, and even improve focus. On this #InternationalDayOfForests, why not take a walk among the trees and reconnect with nature? 🌲✨

Grateful to the dedicated ranchers, agricultural producers, and other grassland stewards who make conservation possible! Together, we’re working to ensure Canada’s grasslands remain healthy and thriving working landscapes. 🌾
Rancher/Professional Agrologist/Grassland Conservation Advocate ….grass is the forgiveness of nature, her constant benediction…..
I have a long history of #partnership with NCC and it has been a great journey so far. Not only has NCC been a great partner in building our #ranching #beef operation #CdnAg #SaskAg over the last 24 years, but we have also had the opportunity to connect with some great thinkers and conservationists in #Saskatchewan #treaty4territory and across #Canada . These connections have tremendous cumulative value to our lives and the ability to be a part of some really positive stories related to #grasslands . This is one of the most #encouraging presentations I've listened to in a long time, well done ! Congratulations, Megan Quinn! 🎉 We're so proud to see Megan, NCC's Coordinator, Conservation Biology in Eastern Ontario, recognized with the King Charles III Coronation Medal for their contributions to environmental stewardship and youth education. Their passion and dedication help inspire the next generation of conservation leaders through their work with NCC and partners like Earth Rangers. Thank you for your commitment to conservation! 💚
Not every day you get awarded a Government of Canada medal.. 🏅 The King Charles III Coronation Medal is awarded to those who "have made a significant contribution to Canada, or to a particular province, territory, region, or community of Canada." I was honoured to receive it for "exceptional contribution to Canada in the fields of environmental stewardship and youth education." A HUGE thank you to Earth Rangers for nominating me. Through our wildlife adoption kits, podcast episodes, social media clips, and school assemblies talking about my work with the Nature Conservancy of Canada/Conservation de la nature Canada , I'm so proud to be inspiring the next generation of conservation heroes. ❤️ I hope this is just the beginning of the great work we can do.
