This is the shared mobility spirit in action: the opportunity to exchange perspectives, conversations built on trust, and a willingness to listen. 👏 At PayByPhone’s panel on women in mobility, tech and leadership, we reflected on the importance of representation, and the role we all play in shaping more inclusive workplaces. Grateful for the chance to connect, learn, and grow together. Thank you, PayByPhone, for hosting such a thoughtful discussion! #WomenInLeadership #SharedMobility #BetterTogether

#IWD may have officially come and gone, but the conversation around empowering women never stops! 💪 Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting Modo at our Vancouver PayByPhone office for an inspiring discussion about women in mobility and tech. Two organizations from the same city, tackling similar challenges, coming together to share insights - not just about mobility, but also about careers in tech, #leadership, and #empowerment. Our speakers shared invaluable perspectives on their journeys, offering advice on how we can support and uplift girls and young women from an early age, helping them recognize their choices, build confidence, and stay true to their values. We also explored the role of networks, #mentorship, and how leaders can actively champion the women on their teams, whether through honest feedback, support, or, for male allies, by seeking mentorship and training when leading predominantly female teams. It was a lighthearted yet powerful conversation, filled with actionable takeaways. A big thank you to everyone who joined us. We hope you left feeling as inspired as we did! 💚 A HUGE thank you to our speakers: Sandra Phillips 🇺🇦 Yulz Havron Shilpi M.Ashley Nguyen Erin Sullivan, MBA, to the organizing team Kristina Svab. BA, CCP, CBP Lettie Costea and Modo for the great partnership. #WomenInMobility #WomenInTech

Modo’s CEO and movmi’s founder, Sandra Phillips, has been nominated for the Entrepreneurship & Innovation category at the Women of Distinction Awards YWCA Metro Vancouver 🚀 This prestigious award celebrates women making waves and leaving a mark in their industries.   In this video, Sandra shares the importance of her nomination, paying tribute to Modo’s founder, Tracey Axelsson and how the Connect the Community Award, powered by public votes, could bring everything full circle. Receiving this award would contribute to advancing the shared mobility movement and the vision of fostering more connected communities for everyone. Even better, it would result in a $10,000 donation to the YWCA’s Gender Equity Program, foresting more opportunities for women and gender-diverse people. We need your vote to make it happen! https://lnkd.in/gyGAnRfM Women Mobilize Women ; Women in Mobility - WIM ; YWCA Metro Vancouver

2025: The International Year of Cooperatives The United Nations has designated 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives, recognizing the vital role co-ops play in building stronger, more resilient communities. As a member-owned carshare, Modo is proud to be part of a movement that prioritizes people over profit, fosters local investment, and champions shared access over individual ownership. To mark this special year, our CEO is launching a new series celebrating female pioneers in the cooperative movement, women who have shaped co-ops into the force for good they are today. #CooperativeYear #SharingEconomy #ModoCarshare

Starting another mini series highlighting female pioneers - this one about women that have shaped the co-operative movement. First up: Mary Ellicott Arnold—a co-operative pioneer, housing advocate, and social justice leader who championed economic self-sufficiency through collective action. Arnold studied business and agriculture, and lived with the Karok nation for a while. She believed in the power of co-operatives to uplift communities, particularly working-class and marginalized groups. With her lifelong partner Mabel Reed, she helped establish and manage co-operative housing, worker co-ops, and consumer co-ops, ensuring people had access to fair wages, affordable living, and economic autonomy. Her Impact on Co-operatives: ✔ Housing Co-operatives – Advocated for affordable housing solutions and helped coal miners in Nova Scotia establish co-operative homes. ✔ Worker & Consumer Co-operatives – Organized economic alternatives that put power back into the hands of workers and consumers. ✔ Women’s Leadership – Encouraged women to take active roles in co-operative governance, challenging the status quo in the early 20th century. Arnold’s legacy reminds us that co-operation isn’t just about business—it’s about building resilient, self-sustaining communities where everyone has a voice. Thanks Jane Hope for highlighting her. Continuing the celebration of women who inspire! Did you know? The first woman to drive around the world was Aloha Wanderwell, a Canadian explorer and aviator who lived in British Columbia! 🚗💨 Aloha's incredible journey, which spanned over 500,000 miles across 80 countries, broke down barriers and showcased the power of determination. #WomenInTransport #SharedMobility #CanadianTrailblazers #Innovation #Leadership

Today's is #iwd and this post is about a special transportation trailblazer because this lady has ties to British Columbia. Aloha Wanderwell (1906–1996) was a Canadian explorer, filmmaker, and aviator who became the first woman to drive around the world. Born Idris Hall in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she moved to Vancouver Island, living in Parksville and Duncan. At just 16 years old, she joined an expedition led by Walter Wanderwell, an adventurer promoting world peace through travel. She became a driver, mechanic, and cinematographer, documenting her travels. Between 1922 and 1927, she drove over 500,000 miles across 80 countries, navigating some of the world's most challenging terrains in a Ford Model T. During her travels, she became fluent in multiple languages, filmed indigenous cultures rarely seen by outsiders, and flew an airplane in Brazil. Her footage remains an important record of early 20th-century exploration. Well these days I know a lot of female leaders that push the envelope of #carsharing: Rebecca Karbaumer Silena Medici Ananda Groag Amitis Khorsandi Pam Cooley Jane Hope Erin Sullivan, MBA

What happens when you bring together a group of inspiring women for an open and honest discussion? You get a space filled with wisdom, support, and powerful takeaways. Today we had the privilege of hearing from incredible women who shared their journeys, challenges, and advice. Here are some key takeaways: 💡 Ask questions and for help: No one has all the answers, and growth comes from curiosity and connection. 🤝 Create space for other women and gender diverse folks: Mentor, sponsor, and lift others up. When one of us rises, we all do. 🚀 Action over perfection: We’re all figuring things out. With practice, things become easier, more natural, and less intimidating. ✨ Be yourself: There’s only one you! 💬 Vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness: Being open and authentic takes courage, and it’s what fosters real connections. 🗣️ Challenge stereotypes and shape new narratives: The way we respond to biases can redefine perceptions. A huge thank you to the incredible women who joined us: Amanda Kao ; Rochelle Grayson ; Mahdis Araujo ; Mia Kohout ; Yulia Donik ; Mona Benjamintz (she/her) ; Jane Hope ; Sandra Phillips ; Frederika Renaud Your voices, stories, and support make all the difference. Who are the women in your life who inspire and uplift you? Tag them in the comments! #Modo #InternationalWomensDay #WomenSupportingWomen #Leadership #Community

⚡ A big win for EV adoption on Vancouver Island! The City of Colwood is now home to the region’s first EV charging hub, featuring 12 fast-charging stations to support more electric trips. Expanding EV infrastructure like this is key to making electric driving more accessible. For Modo, it means more opportunities to integrate EVs into our fleet, giving members a reliable and convenient way to drive electric. As we work toward transitioning more of our shared vehicles to EVs, hubs like this make it easier than ever for our members to charge up and keep moving. More charging options = more EVs on the road = a big step forward for shared mobility! https://lnkd.in/gxw2syQ9
