🌟 IHO Program Highlights: Transitional Housing Support Program (THSP)🌟 We understand that shelter living isn’t the right fit for everyone. That’s why our Transitional Housing Support Program (THSP) is here to help survivors find safe, affordable, and permanent housing while navigating the barriers they face. 🏡 **How We Can Help:** ✨ Develop personalized transitional and safety plans ✨ Assist with applications for income support, social housing, and legal aid ✨ Connect you with community resources like counseling, mental health services, and parenting supports ✨ Provide guidance through complex systems like legal processes, immigration, police, and medical appointments Additionally, we recognize that for many survivors, leaving the relationship is not the outcome that they desire. It's very common that the main outcome desired is for the violent behaviours to stop. We can connect any willing family member to resources to move towards healing and restoration from domestic violence. Our outreach workers bring shelter services to you—wherever you feel safe in the community. 💜 📞 Need support? Reach out to us to learn more about how our THSP can help you or someone you care about. #SupportSurvivors #TransitionalHousing #SafeAndSupported #EndViolence #CommunityCare

About us
Interval House of Ottawa empowers all persons who identify as women and their dependents. In partnership with the community, we provide safe shelter and support, intervention and prevention services, and advocacy to break the cycle of violence. We are currently the only shelter in Ottawa and surrounding area that allows women to bring their pets in-shelter with them. With only 2/3 of our operational costs funded by the provincial government, we rely on the generous support of our donors to keep our doors open.

🌍 Human Rights Day 2024: "Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now." Human rights protect lives—right now. Yet here in Ottawa, rising femicide rates remind us that too many women, children and gender-diverse people face violence daily. At Interval House of Ottawa, we see the urgent need for solutions rooted in human rights: safety, dignity, and equity for all. Join us in advocating for a future where every person's right to live free from violence is a reality. Together, we can create change.

Today, we remember. We mourn. And we come together and work for action to end Gender-Based Violence. Today, we join 150 organizations calling for an end to Intimate Partner Violence and Gender-Based Violence in Ontario and urging the Ontario Legislature to prioritize and pass Bill 173: Intimate Partner Violence Epidemic Act, 2024. Today, on the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, we honour the 14 women murdered in the tragic École Polytechnique massacre. On the 35th anniversary of this day we take pause today to hold space for victims of femicide, survivors of gender-based violence and all of us still here, engaged in the ongoing fight to end gender-based violence. We must also hold space for all of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirit and gender expansive people who continue to face the highest rates of femicide and incarceration - these two things are inextricably linked. The criminalization of our Indigenous kin hurts all of us and we continue to heal and provide education to end these cycles of violence. Let’s commit to action: educate ourselves, amplify survivors’ voices, and stand against all forms of violence. Above all else, BELIEVE SURVIVORS. Together, we can create a safer future for everyone and it requires everyone doing their part. Join us this evening at Minto Park at 6 PM for a vigil; there will be a warming centre at Jack Purcell Community Centre. #December6 #MMIWG2S #EndViolence #believesurvivors
