Illuminex AI is on a mission to amplify the value of daily airfield self-inspections by developing AI tools that empower operations teams to analyze and collect data for informed, data-driven action. While still in the MVP stage, we’re thrilled to offer a sneak peek at our latest detector, Surface AI, which will identify and log cracks and other surface condition issues as inspectors conduct their daily routes. Unlike PCI scoring, which typically occurs once a year or less, our solution delivers far more frequent condition assessments. This enables operations and maintenance teams to, for example, identify the top 50 surface defects with the highest rate of growth over the last 30, 60, or 90 days, facilitating enhanced maintenance prioritization. We expect to begin multi-airport beta testing of Surface AI later this year. An Illuminex AI employee—not a developer, not even technical—decided to have fun and build 'FOD Grab,' a game where you snatch virtual foreign object debris (FOD) like screws or stones off a runway. With zero coding know-how, they leaned on AI (ChatGPT), described the idea, and watched it spit out working code. A few nudges later, they had a playable game—born from a non-developer in a high-tech company. This isn’t about what Illuminex already does (FOD detection’s covered). It’s about what’s coming. If a non-technical employee can wield AI this easily, imagine the future of airfield ops when anyone can tap that power. As NVIDIA AI partners, we’re leveraging their GPUs to supercharge AI tools that don’t need a coder to build—real-time FOD risk forecasts predicting debris movement from weather data, or AI-driven runway health checks spotting cracks years ahead, all crafted by regular staff with a vision, not just devs. And with our IBM watsonx partnership, we’re tapping enterprise-grade AI to push those possibilities further. 'FOD Grab' is a fun fluke from a non-techie. But in Illuminex’s high-tech hands, paired with AI’s accessibility and top-tier partnerships, it’s a sign: the future might belong to anyone with an idea, not just the code wizards.
