𝗩𝗶𝗺𝘆 𝗥𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 On this day, April 9, 2025, we observe Vimy Ridge Day, honouring the courage and sacrifice of the Canadian soldiers who fought in the Battle of Vimy Ridge during the First World War. The battle commenced at 5:30 a.m. on April 9, 1917, with over 15,000 Canadian infantry advancing through harsh weather conditions into intense enemy fire. By April 12, they had successfully captured the ridge, marking a significant victory for the Allied forces. This triumph came at a heavy cost: 3,598 Canadians lost their lives, and 7,000 were wounded during the four-day battle. Vimy Ridge Day serves as a solemn reminder of the bravery and resilience demonstrated by Canadian troops and underscores the importance of remembering our nation's military history. 🌍 World Health Day | April 7 "My health, my right." World Health Day is a global reminder that health is a human right—not a privilege. Everyone, everywhere deserves access to quality care, support, and the opportunity to live a full and healthy life. But while we often focus on physical health, it’s equally important to check in on our mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. The last few years have shown us just how deeply health systems, frontline workers, caregivers, and families can be impacted by global and local challenges. We recognize that supporting the health of a community begins with supporting the individual—whether you're a healthcare provider, caregiver, client, or a grieving loved one. There are a variety of free and accessible tools designed to support your overall wellbeing. From mental health strategies and caregiver tips to grief support and guided meditations, you can find a variety of resources online at https://lnkd.in/d8_FTPdM On this World Health Day, let’s commit to building a world where everyone has the right to be well—and the resources to get there. #WorldHealthDay #MyHealthMyRight #MentalHealthMatters #GriefSupport #CaregiverSupport #WellnessTools #CommunityCare #YouAreNotAlone

It’s been a tough week for many in our community. The ice storm last weekend left a trail of challenges—power outages, fallen trees, disrupted routines, and a whole lot of stress. For some, it brought fear and uncertainty. For others, it brought long, cold nights and unexpected hardship. But through it all, our community has done what it does best: show up for each other. Neighbours helping neighbours. Sharing generators, clearing driveways, checking in, and lending a hand—or a warm cup of coffee—wherever it was needed. That’s the heart of this community, and we’re grateful. Still, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone. It’s OK to not be OK after the week we’ve all had. Be gentle with yourself. Take it one day at a time—one hour at a time, if that’s what you need. Rest when you can. Breathe. Reach out. We’ll continue to share resources and updates as they become available. Please don’t hesitate to connect or pass them along to someone who might need them. We’re in this together. 💛

𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙉𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙈𝙤𝙨𝙩 At Hospice Orillia, we believe that every moment matters. Life-limiting illnesses and grief can feel overwhelming, but no one should have to walk that journey alone. Since 1989, we have been proudly supporting individuals and families in our community, providing compassionate, person-centered care—free of charge. As a program of the North Simcoe Muskoka Hospice Palliative Care Network (NSMHPCN), we are dedicated to ensuring that those facing serious illness, end-of-life, and loss receive the support they need. Hospice Orillia is more than just a service; it’s a community of care. We provide supportive counselling to individuals living with a progressive, life-limiting illness and their loved ones, helping them navigate the emotional, psychological, and practical challenges that come with such a diagnosis. Whether it’s coping with uncertainty, preparing for the future, or simply having a safe space to talk, our team is here to listen and support. From our in-home hospice program, where trained volunteers provide companionship, to our specialized grief and bereavement groups, we stand beside those who need us most. We recognize that grief is not a linear process; it’s a deeply personal and sometimes messy journey. That’s why we offer programs tailored to meet the unique needs of each person, whether they are facing the loss of a child, a spouse, or a dear friend. Through initiatives like our Footprints Legacy Project, we help individuals leave behind treasured memories for their loved ones, ensuring their stories live on. Our Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group creates a safe space for families to grieve and heal together. And with specialized resources, including the Youth Equine Support Group, we provide innovative ways to help people process their emotions in a supportive environment. For over 35 years, Hospice Orillia has been a pillar of comfort and care in our community. We believe that dignity, connection, and compassion should be at the heart of palliative care. Every day, we strive to bring hope, understanding, and peace to those navigating life’s most difficult transitions. Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about dying well—it’s about living well, right to the very end. Hospice Orillia. Compassion. Dignity. Support. Since 1989.
