Horseback riding is a lifelong passion and a powerful source of healing for Kailey Christensen, Customer Relations Support Representative at Enbridge Gas in Utah.
“Horses have been a special way of calming your nervous system and lowering your heart rate and blood pressure just by simply being around them,” Kailey said.
April is Stress Awareness Month, a time to reflect on the ways we manage and relieve everyday pressures.
Kailey has experienced the emotional benefits of spending time with her horses. Whether it’s riding through the mountains or brushing their manes, her connection with them has helped her navigate some of life’s hardest moments, including the sudden loss of her father.
“I rode my horses often in places him and I used to go riding. It was the only way I felt like I could connect with him again and relieve the stress, anxiety, and heartbreak. It was very healing for me.”
Her connection with horses also brings back fond memories of childhood rides with friends to visit her grandmother, where breakfast was shared and stories were told.
Today, Kailey continues to care for the horses that have been with her though every stage of her life.
The daily rhythm of grooming, feeding, and simply being present with them remains a meaningful and restorative part of her routine.
