Take Sweet Laurens, for example – they had around 25% aided awareness before partnering with Barbie, who boasts an impressive 98%. 🎀 We think the collaboration was a perfect fit, with both brands sharing a positive, fun vibe that resonates with a female-leaning audience.     Can private label win without brands? Costco Wholesale's Kirkland Signature brand would be the largest CPG company in the world if it stood on its own. Loblaw Companies Limited is testing private label only stores with their "No Name" brand. Target has scaled Good & Gather. Walmart just launched Bettergoods. Trader Joe's is nearly all private label—and somehow still doesn’t feel like it. And Brandless? It had a moment in private label F&B, but eventually pivoted to home goods. So—is private label winning? Here’s my take: Private label doesn’t win alone. Private label needs brands. 👊 Brands build categories. They spark consumer desire. They anchor price expectations and engage consumers outside of retail. Without a branded anchor, private label floats… but doesn’t fly.
