It’s a BIG milestone day for CO280 and durable #CDR! We’re honored to announce one of the world’s largest engineered CDR offtake agreements to date – a partnership with Microsoft who will purchase 3.69 million tonnes of CDR over 12 years from our first project at a pulp and paper mill in the US Gulf Coast. We’re incredibly grateful to Microsoft for their trust, collaboration, and leadership! Microsoft’s unwavering commitment to advancing high-quality, permanent carbon removal has propelled the entire industry forward and inspired a generation of entrepreneurs and innovators including CO280. We know our success builds on the foundations laid down by others. We’re proud to stand on those foundations as we scale a 10+ million tonne per year network of efficient, bankable, repeatable CDR projects — built with our pulp and paper partners and supported by a growing ecosystem of technology suppliers, transport and storage developers, project investors, and other communities. Please reach out if you want to learn more about CO280 and check out our open positions to join us on this journey. info@co280.com https://lnkd.in/gtxT9x2T

Congratulations to Stockholm Exergi on reaching a positive Final Investment Decision (FID) for one of the world’s largest Bio-CCS projects. We have long been admirers of Exergi’s approach. Our hats are off to their great team and all their partners on achieving this milestone. Your leadership is paving the way forward. A hearty congratulations Erik Rylander Johan Börje and team !
Stockholm Exergi to build one of the world’s largest facilities for removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, Beccs Stockholm Today’s investment decision marks a major milestone in enabling permanent removals and will help Sweden and the EU reach their long-term climate goals. Construction will begin immediately, with the goal of having the facility operational during 2028. "This is a historic moment for Stockholm Exergi and for the green transition. We have worked purposefully for many years to make bio-CCS a reality, and today’s decision means we are moving from plans to action. With this, we assume global leadership in the industry for permanent removals", says Anders Egelrud, CEO. Stockholm Exergi has selected Northern Lights JV as its partner for CO₂ transport and storage. This investment decision now enables Northern Lights to expand its capacity—an important step for future negative emissions projects and the foundation for what could become a new industry, positioning the Nordics and Europe as global leaders in this field. Beccs Stockholm is made possible through a combination of funding from the EU Innovation Fund, Swedish government aid and revenue from the private market. We’ve been asked: “do the recent changes in the political landscape mean that companies are changing course on climate?” We think not! PwC recently found that 84% of corporates with climate and emissions reductions targets plan to keep or accelerate those commitments, based off the latest CDP survey dataset. Of the 16% that aren’t, half are just readjusting targets based on better data and more realistic plans, demonstrating that leading corporations are committed to climate goals over the long term – and validating what we’re hearing. If you’re curious how CO280 is working with companies to help achieve their climate targets with CDR, feel free to comment and we’ll get in touch. ESG Today article linked: https://lnkd.in/dQwsKD6A

We are one step closer to highly anticipated, scientifically backed #CDR guidance for companies with decarbonization commitments. Science Based Targets initiative has announced it is creating new expert working groups to inform interim (short term) #carbondioxideremoval targets in its Corporate Net-Zero Standard. This is important and welcome progress toward a standard that is effective and actionable while remaining ambitious about what we can accomplish - if we start today. CO280 commends the many companies that have set science-based targets or have committed to developing targets. We are encouraged by the role this upcoming guidance will play in spurring action we need to make these targets attainable. Read SBTi's update at https://lnkd.in/e9ctnfZW. If you are interested in securing permanent, high quality, and affordable CDR for your #SBTi or #Netzero goals, contact Natalie K., Andrew Chalmers or Björn De Groote.
