We would like to share a nice piece about Desautels Concert Hall at the University of Manitoba written by Lawrence Bird in the latest edition of Canadian Architect magazine. The application of good design principles has created a place of pleasant experience for students and staff, the general public, and performers alike. Which in the end, is what it’s all about! Thanks to (especially) Teeple Architects and everyone who worked hard on this project! A big thanks to everyone who came out to the Sherbrook Inn on Jan 30, 2025 for our Open House! Cibinel Architecture Ltd was there to chat about a proposed apartment building in the parking lot adjacent to the Sherbrook Inn. We really enjoyed meeting people, presenting our ideas, and getting feedback. Plus, we got to hang out in a neighbourhood landmark that is getting revitalized by the new owners. Fun! The Winnipeg Free Press ran a nice story today that describes what’s happening … https://lnkd.in/gRU6SRj7

When it's -20 C (feels like -30 C) this is so heartwarming.

Loved reading these thoughts from Shreeraj Patel. It's so interesting to gain insight into how others are impacted or perceive a project that we are involved in. Thanks much!
Standing atop 308 Colony Street in downtown Winnipeg, I was inspired by Solara Flats, a 21-storey development set to become Canada’s tallest net-zero carbon residential building. This $77 million project will offer 214 units, with 86 designated as affordable housing. Over 20% of the suites are planned to be barrier-free or adaptable, ensuring accessibility for all residents. Amenities like an outdoor greenspace terrace, gym, lounge, and laundry facilities aim to foster a sense of community among its diverse inhabitants. Our role in financing this groundbreaking development fills us with immense pride. Supporting a project that addresses the pressing need for affordable housing while exemplifying environmental stewardship aligns with our commitment to sustainable urban development. This initiative reflects a collaborative effort among stakeholders, including The University of Winnipeg, Winnipeg Community Renewal Corporation (UWCRC 2.0 INC.) and Lotus Holdings Winnipeg, dedicated to creating inclusive urban spaces. We extend our deepest thanks to the UWCRC for their leadership and unwavering commitment to community renewal. Envisioning future residents - families, students, professionals - benefiting from affordable, accessible, and sustainable living spaces is truly rewarding. Proximity to cultural landmarks like the Winnipeg Art Gallery and educational institutions such as The University of Winnipeg will provide residents with unparalleled access to the city’s vibrant cultural and academic life. Beyond housing, this development contributes to the revitalization of downtown Winnipeg, promoting economic growth and enhancing the urban landscape. Integrating commercial spaces on the ground floor will create opportunities for local businesses, enriching the community fabric. Our participation underscores our commitment to projects that embody innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility. We are privileged to play a role in this transformative development and look forward to witnessing its positive impact on the Winnipeg community. Together with the University of Winnipeg Community Renewal Corporation and all partners involved, what is being built is not just a structure, but a legacy of sustainable and inclusive urban living for future generations. If you drive or walk by the corner of Autumnwood and Cottonwood (in Winnipeg) no doubt you have noticed this building under construction. If you are interested in a sneak peak of how it looks inside, here are some pics of how it’s shaping up. Thanks to all the architects, engineers, construction, and tradespeople who are hard at work building a new fire and paramedic station. Happy Monday everybody!
