  • Career development is essential—and advocacy for it is urgent! Today, at Amplify 2025 conference hosted by First Work, CERIC was proud to stand alongside partners and changemakers advancing the case for employment services as a critical piece of Canada's workforce development ecosystem. The session From Awareness to Action: Advancing Employment Services Advocacy spotlighted the importance of advocating for policies and funding that recognize career development as more than job placement—it’s about lifelong learning, equity and economic mobility. A special thank you to CERIC's Vice-Chair Keka DasGupta for lending her voice on this timely panel, alongside the incredible Sareena Hopkins from the CCDF-FCDC and Surranna Sandy, from Skills for Change. Their insights gave attendees tools to craft compelling messages, engage key stakeholders and push the sector forward. Congratulations to the entire #Amplify25 community for raising the bar on what leadership in disruption looks like! For fellow service providers on the Canadian Armed Forces | Forces armées canadiennes National Resource Directory and the Veteran Hub, I strongly recommend this book by Yvonne Rodney. Many service providers on the NRD do not have a military service background (myself included) and Yvonne provides a great overview of the unique culture, structure, and challenges associated with military service (and for their spouses and families). The book is packed with information and resources as well as personal stories of serving and released members that makes the material more relatable. The transition process out of military life can be bumpy, but there are so many more resources available now to help! Thank you for this book recommendation Dwayne L. Cormier! https://lnkd.in/gd2kk_fp
