Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario (YWHO) is addressing the service gaps in the youth mental health and substance use areas in Ontario. These hubs offer services that support individual needs such as counseling, wellness programs, education, employment, housing and peer support, ensuring that youth have access to the care they need when they need it most. The YWHO network is more accessible with expansion to 32 sites across Ontario, creating a supportive space where young people can thrive and heal. It's a positive step forward for mental health care in Ontario, and a hopeful sign for the future of our youth. Learn more about YWHO at https://ow.ly/hqlk50Vtovg #NoOneLeftBehind

What an inspiring evening celebrating 5 years of CAMH womenmind at our International Women’s Day event last week! Special thanks to Cheryl Hickey, celebrated journalist, and leading CAMH experts Drs. "Less than 1% of Canadian health research funding is allocated to women’s mental health. This stark reality is why I left the beautiful B.C. mountains to join CAMH as the Scientific Lead of womenmind™. When I packed my bags two years ago, I was driven by a deep commitment to the womenmind™. mission of: 1) Bringing awareness to the gender gap in mental health knowledge and care 2) Promoting women+ scientists 3) Advancing research on women’s mental health Women’s health is chronically understudied, underfunded, and undervalued, making the work we do at CAMH so critical. But research in this space is not only lacking financial support: I’ve come to realize it’s also being dangerously oversimplified. The limited number of studies that do happen often treat women's health as a monolith, lumping together menstrual cycles, pregnancies, and menopause as if they were all the same. Our work at CAMH aims to dismantle the profound overgeneralization of women’s health. The research we do every day dives deeper into nuanced areas of women’s health, like the impact of early versus late onset postpartum depression, the varying mental health outcomes associated with surgical, spontaneous, and induced menopause, and how menstrual cycle tracking can aid in smoking cessation. Our recent findings demonstrate that even the way we take menopausal hormone therapy (oral pills versus skin patches) can significantly influence brain health in different but important ways. What more can we discover when we stop overlooking women’s mental health? I don’t know, but I do know I am eager to uncover the life-changing insights that await us. Tomorrow is International Women’s Day. I invite you to join me in demanding better for the women in our lives that we love and admire. Share your story in the comments, share this post, and let's amplify the voices of women who deserve answers, care, and hope." — Dr. Liisa Galea, Ph.D. Liisa Galea #IWD2025 #IWD #NoOneLeftBehind
