🚨📊 New Research Alert 📊🚨 We are pleased to announce the release of 10 new Regional and Sector Tourism Research Profiles. Meet 4VI Social Enterprise Group team member Laura Howells, Travel Media & Storytelling Specialist - Celebrating her passion for connecting culture #TourismWeekCanada2025 While working 2 jobs and living at home, my mom gave me the ultimatum of paying rent or go back to school - I took the school route. I enrolled for the Tourism Studies Diploma at Vancouver Island University. The first week of classes, I knew the tourism industry was for me and proceeded to enroll in the Tourism Management Degree at VIU. I realized throughout the program that Indigenous tourism is an amazing way to (re)connect with culture, share our story - our way, and provide economic benefits to Indigenous communities. Since then, I’ve seen Indigenous tourism bloom. Growing up as a mixed ancestry, urban Indigenous member from the Wei Wai Kum First Nation, I was often (sadly) ashamed to be First Nations. I am now proud and happy to be able to put an Indigenous lens in my work by incorporating language, storytelling and lived experiences in what I think is one of the funnest ways possible - through tourism. #bctourismcounts #TourismWeekCanada2025 #VancouverIsland

Meet 4VI Social Enterprise Group team member Genevieve Huneault Director of Tourism Development - Celebrating her passion for the tourism industry this #TourismWeekCanada2025 "The tourism industry has always been a journey of discovery for me. For more than 15 years, I have embraced my identity first as a traveller—curious, adventurous, and passionate about exploring the world—and then as a tourism professional. It was my love for experiencing different cultures, trekking through rugged mountains and valleys, and diving into the vibrant depths of oceans and coral reefs that initially drew me into this field. Tourism, to me, is far more than an industry; it's a dynamic, interconnected force that nurtures human expression, builds community, and plays a crucial role in protecting our natural heritage. I believe that by embracing a place-based approach to tourism development, we can harness the power of travel as a catalyst for positive ecological and social change. This passion drives me every day to create experiences and strategies that respect, celebrate, and preserve the unique beauty of our world." #TourismWeekCanada2025 #bctourismcounts #vancouverisland

Celebrating #TourismWeekCanada2025: The Heart of our Industry is our people. As we celebrate this week, we want to take some time to shine a light on the incredible individuals at 4VI Social Enterprise Group who help make this industry thrive; each with their own unique story about how they found their way into tourism. Their passion, hard work, and stories are what make this industry so special. We hope you will enjoy getting to know a little bit more about our amazing team members this week! First up, President of 4TVI Brian Cant My entire career has been in tourism. It’s an industry that I love. For more than 20 years, I’ve had a job where I welcome people to my community, whether it was where I grew up in Rossland, BC or in Victoria, BC, where I’ve now lived for most of my life. Visitors to Vancouver Island have always been amazed by the warm welcome that they received, reminding me that the people who live in communities are the heart of our industry. I’ve also been lucky to travel to many places around the world. A memory that I’ll cherish forever was a trip to Wadi Rum in Jordan. The desert was an environment I had never before experienced and was a truly fascinating place to witness firsthand. However, the hospitality from the people hosting us is what made it special. We were fed (too much) under the stars, drank copious amounts of deliciously sweet tea, and were then invited to join our hosts and dance the night away. The effortlessly welcoming nature of the Jordanians is something that I’ve tried to incorporate into my life and my work ever since. Happy Tourism Week, Canada! #BCTourismCounts #TourismWeekCanada2025
