Transforming nature’s most powerful permanent carbon removal process into a global climate solution through ERW.
Sobre nós
Over millions of years, silicate rock weathering has regulated Earth’s climate. By crushing silicate rocks and spreading them on agricultural soils - an approach called Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) - we can accelerate Earth’s natural process into a solution capable of addressing the urgency of climate change. Existing agricultural and silicate rock sites - namely 5,000+ global silicate rock quarries surrounded by agricultural land - have the potential to remove billions of tonnes of CO2 with enhanced rock weathering. Despite this potential, ERW hasn’t scaled given the extraordinary scientific, technological, and operational challenges involved. Terradot, founded out of the Stanford ecosystem, is addressing these challenges by advancing the science, building the technology, and assembling the coalition needed to make this potential a reality. We’ve started in Brazil – one of the world’s most optimal locations for ERW thanks to its tropical soils, strength in agriculture, and clean electricity grid. There, we are building the most ambitious ERW hub to date. This hub will drive the necessary breakthroughs in ERW science, ensuring every tonne of carbon dioxide removed is measured and tracked with certainty. These insights will power digital tools for the optimization and verification of carbon removal projects, enabling the replicability of these hubs globally If successful, this approach will uniquely and rapidly catalyze global-scale carbon removal, enabling the transformation of [300] such quarries in Brazil and [5,000+] global quarries into carbon removal hubs. Terradot has assembled a growing team of leading scientists and engineers with decades of published research (over 100,000 citations on ERW) and hands-on expertise in related fields, providing unmatched experience to drive advancements in ERW.

🌍Terradot Goes to the Amazon: Building a team that’s all in 🌿 Last month, we asked our team to meet us on the Tapajós River in the Brazilian Amazon— to embark on riverboats without service and to sleep in hammocks just inches apart from one another. We went on this trip to reinforce our commitment to two things: our mission and each other. Scaling Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) to gigaton impact isn’t easy. Our day-to-day work demands collaboration across disciplines, geographies, and established sectors to solve complex challenges. All great missions come with great challenges—something well understood by the Indigenous communities we spent time with and our trip guides at Brigada de Alter, who tirelessly fight for the survival of the world’s most biodiverse rainforest. This trip was an opportunity to take a page from their book and to understand that we are all bound by the same mission. As Renato Rodrigues (whose first official day at Terradot was on our offsite) put it, "Starting my journey at Terradot with an offsite in the heart of the Amazon was truly special. Navigating the Tapajós River alongside such an inspiring team was the perfect way to immerse myself in the company’s culture, align with its vision and experience firsthand the passion that drives our mission—I’m excited to be part of this journey and look forward to growing with the team for a long time!" Want to be part of this mission? We’re hiring. #Terradot #ClimateTech #CompanyCulture #Hiring Brigada de Incêndio Florestal Alter do Chão

Big changes are made by those willing to make big bets. Google has made one of the biggest bets in the ERW space. Thank you Randy Spock, Reilly O'Hara, Emily Ma and the entire Google team for your vision to advance the science and scale the potential of Enhanced Rock Weathering as a global climate solution. This collaboration, born out of the Frontier coalition, is a significant step in that mission, and a testament to the way that Frontier’s AMC is paving the way for the wider market. Check out Google’s blog to learn more about our partnership and the important work ahead! https://lnkd.in/grVPg65J

Before a market exists, someone has to go first. We’re thrilled to have Frontier as our first large-scale carbon removal buyer with a $27 million dollar purchase, helping us take critical steps toward near-term, high-integrity, and affordable carbon removal. This collaboration is validating the science behind Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) and accelerating its deployment to remove 90,000 tons of CO₂ by 2029 in Brazil—one of the most promising regions for ERW. Thank you, Frontier, for believing in us and leading the way. Together, we’re proving what’s possible. Check out Frontier’s blog to learn more about our partnership! 🌍 Frontier has facilitated purchases on behalf of Frontier founding members Stripe, Google, Shopify, and McKinsey & Company Sustainability as well as Autodesk, H&M Group, Workday, and Salesforce. Also, Aledade Inc, Canva, Match Group, Samsara, SKIMS, Skyscanner, WISE, and Zendesk have purchased via Watershed's partnership with Frontier Judy Savitskaya, Jane Flegal, Zeke Hausfather, Joanna Klitzke, Hannah Bebbington, Nan Ransohoff, Andrew Shea, Florian Maganza, Molly Niffenegger #CarbonRemoval #EnhancedRockWeathering #ClimateTech #CDR #Frontier #Terradot

Today, we’re excited to officially launch Terradot with $58.2M in funding! We’re transforming Earth’s most powerful natural carbon removal process—silicate rock weathering—into a scalable climate solution through Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW). 🌍 Why we’re excited: $58.2M in funding led by John Doerr, joined by Sheryl Sandberg & Tom Bernthal, George Roberts, Microsoft's Climate Innovation Fund, Google, Cisco Foundation, Kleiner Perkins, Floodgate, Acre Venture Partners, Gigascale Capital, Valor Capital Group, Ponderosa Ventures and others. Nearly 300,000 tonnes of carbon removal sold, including a $27M purchase by Stripe's Frontier Climate buyers for 90,000 tonnes and Frontier member Google’s largest-ever single CDR purchase—200,000 tonnes. Starting in Brazil, an optimal location thanks to its tropical climate, agricultural scale, and clean energy grid. We believe ERW has the greatest potential to deliver gigaton-scale, permanent carbon removal this decade. But achieving that potential will be far harder than most realize. That’s why we built Terradot: to advance the hard science and build the technology required to activate the thousands of existing silicate rock quarries worldwide into scalable CDR hubs. Backed by the world’s strongest coalition—spanning industry, academia, and government—we’re taking a bold bet on unlocking ERW’s massive potential. The road ahead won’t be easy: millions of soil samples, snake-filled fields, and no guarantees of success await. The stakes couldn’t be higher. 🚀 This is just the beginning. If you’re a scientist pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, an engineer ready to build, or an operator obsessed with execution—come join us. Let’s work together to stabilize Earth’s climate. 🔗 Join Us: https://lnkd.in/gm-7gCEf 🔗 Google’s Blog Post: https://lnkd.in/grVPg65J 🔗 Frontier’s Blog Post: https://lnkd.in/gG--y6xn 🔗 Bloomberg: https://lnkd.in/gHBMqsb2 🔗 Brazil Coverage: https://lnkd.in/gjBQS6rQ #ClimateTech #CarbonRemoval #EnhancedRockWeathering #Terradot #ClimateSolutions #CDR
