We’re still buzzing from the drone flight we operated on 20 March at Living Tomorrow — and from the wave of media attention it sparked! Together with skeyes and DroneLand, we made history by conducting the first BVLOS flight in controlled airspace around Brussels Airport — all while crewed aviation continued as normal. Today, our drone pilots had the honour of conducting the first BVLOS flight in controlled airspace around Brussels Airport — all while the airspace remained active for crewed aviation! The drone took off from the 12th floor of the Living Tomorrow campus in Vilvoorde and was remotely operated from our control room 13 km away. This achievement marks a significant step forward in integrating drones safely into complex airspace. We’re excited to announce our collaboration with SafeSky, exchanging real-time traffic data to improve situational awareness for both crewed and uncrewed aircraft. 🤝 By integrating SafeSky’s traffic data into our Traffic Information Service (TIS), drone pilots flying beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) gain access to additional flight information from lower flying aircraft. In return, SafeSky users will now receive alerts on uncrewed aircraft activity above 500 feet.
