It was an honour to receive an award from OSRL to recognise our 20 years of successful collaboration. Over the years, we have achieved many things, from improving industry preparedness and response for #OiledWildlife incidents, to analysing country wildlife response capabilities across the world. We're very grateful to OSRL and to Vania de Stefani for presenting us with the award at INTERSPILL 2025. We look forward to many more years working together. #EmergencyResponse
Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending INTERSPILL 2025 in London, where I joined colleagues from OSRL, Ipieca, IOGP and the wider Global Response Network (GRN). Events like Interspill are a valuable opportunity to connect with our peers and partners, share knowledge, and reflect on our collective progress. I’m proud of the expertise and professionalism OSRL brings—not only in the technical delivery of spill response, but in our commitment to collaboration across the industry. A particular highlight this year is celebrating 20 years of partnership with Sea Alarm. Our shared commitment to minimising the impact of oil spills on communities and the environment has led to meaningful progress in oiled wildlife preparedness and response. Together, we’ve helped formalise the Tier 3 Global Oiled Wildlife Response capability—an achievement that demonstrates the power of long-standing, purposeful collaboration. My sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to connect today—and to the OSRL team, who continue to represent the organisation with expertise and dedication throughout the week.

We’re celebrating 20 years of working with OSRL 🎉 Together, we have accomplished a lot over the years, from improving oiled wildlife preparedness to formalising industry funded Tier 3 Global Oiled Wildlife response. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be highlighting some of our key achievements with snapshots from an interview Hugo Nijkamp did with OSRL’s Paul Kelway. Watch this space! #OiledWildlife #EmergencyResponse #20YearsOfPreparedness
Reflecting on 20 Years of Preparedness with Sea Alarm 🐬 In 2005, when OSRL and Sea Alarm first joined forces, the world was largely unprepared for oiled wildlife response. Major spills like the Erika, Prestige, and Tricolor exposed significant gaps. Governments were often overwhelmed, and NGOs had to self-organize. Together, we've worked to transform the landscape and make wildlife response a priority! To celebrate 20 years of collaboration with Sea Alarm, we will mark this significant milestone with a series of exclusive wildlife content, including an interview with Sea Alarm’s General Manager, Hugo Nijkamp - watch the video below for a sneak peak 👀 Looking to learn more about wildlife preparedness and response?
