🇧🇪🇺🇦 This week, NBB Governor Pierre Wunsch visited the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).    🤝🏼 The NBB has maintained strong and constructive cooperation with the NBU for many years, and both central banks are part of the same country constituency at the International Monetary Fund.    👉 During the visit, Governor Wunsch gave presentations on a number of topics including the impact of current geopolitical challenges on the EU’s economic outlook.    👉 Governor Wunsch is only the second governor of a central bank to have travelled to Kiev since the outbreak of the war, underlining the strong and ongoing ties between our two institutions. 

🇧🇪🇺🇦 Gouverneur Pierre Wunsch bracht deze week een werkbezoek aan de National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).     🤝🏼 De NBB heeft al jaren een sterke en constructieve samenwerking met de NBU, en beide centrale banken maken deel uit van dezelfde kiesgroep bij het International Monetary Fund.     👉 Tijdens het werkbezoek gaf de gouverneur enkele presentaties, onder andere over de impact van geopolitieke uitdagingen op de economische vooruitzichten van de EU.     👉 Pierre Wunsch is de tweede gouverneur die sinds het uitbreken van de oorlog naar Kiev reist. Dit onderstreept de blijvende steun en het belang van de sterke banden tussen de Belgische en Oekraïense centrale banken.  

🇧🇪🇺🇦 Cette semaine, le gouverneur Pierre Wunsch a rendu visite à la National Bank of Ukraine.     🤝🏼 La Banque nationale de Belgique entretient depuis de nombreuses années une coopération forte et constructive avec la Banque nationale d’Ukraine. Les deux institutions appartiennent au même groupe de vote au sein du Fonds monétaire international (International Monetary Fund).    👉 Dans le cadre de cette visite, le gouverneur a fait plusieurs présentations, notamment sur l’impact des défis géopolitiques sur les perspectives économiques de l’Union européenne.    👉 Pierre Wunsch est le deuxième gouverneur à s’être rendu à Kiev depuis le début du conflit, témoignant du soutien durable et de l’importance des liens étroits entre les banques centrales belge et ukrainienne.

🎓 This week we welcomed a group of students from Antwerp Management School as part of a series of visits they are making to key actors in the Brussels financial sector.    During the visit, the head of our banking supervision department delivered a presentation on what banking supervision involves and its importance. The visitors also heard from two younger members of the Bank’s staff who shared their experience of working at the NBB, and then had the chance for a more informal networking opportunity with other Bank personnel.    Who knows…? Perhaps we’ll bump into some of these students around an NBB water cooler in the future!
