Earlier last month, InnovaWood participated at the 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 conference in #Brussels. The joint conference was organized in collaboration with several European projects, namely Nebula B4P, CrAft - Creating Actionable Futures, AEGIR,  INGUMA_Biobased,  WoodStock project and NEB Academy .  🇪🇺 The event provided a platform to engage with the European Commission on the changing needs of the construction sector. It also highlighted key findings and results from the projects, offering their perspectives on the future of the #NewEuropeanBauhaus and #SustainableCities. 🏙️ 🎤 InnovaWood team represented AEGIR, INGUMA_Biobased, WoodStock project and the NEB Academy . Florence KUIJL co-facilitated an AEGIR workshop on 𝘚𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘜𝘱 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, together with ICLEI and TECNALIA Research & Innovation. A couple of weeks ago, the results of the work developed by InnovaWood network, in collaboration with XERA Agency for forest-based industry and the other partners of the RESONATE Horizon Europe project, were presented at the 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘝𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘸𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘴 in Galicia. Our team members Uwe Kies 🎤 and Eva Čeh 📷 were co-hosting the final Policy Workshop of the RESONATE Horizon Europe project, together with the European Forest Institute team. Throwback to the end of 2024, a major conference titled 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲’𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 : 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 took place in #Brussels. 🔊 The conference gathered 170 participants and 40 speakers, highlighting the wood sector's role in housing and climate debates. It showcased advances in wood-based building design and ways in which the public sector can support bio-based construction to combat climate change, encouraging greater recognition and support from the EU Commission and EU Parliament.  InnovaWood as part of the Wood4Bauhaus Alliance was co-organiser, and various InnovaWood members contributed as speakers. It’s essential that the EU Bioeconomy strategy targets to research investment on all parts of the bioeconomy value chain: sustainable raw material production, technology agnostic processing, development of bio-based materials together with the provision of a series of ecosystem services. Sustainable raw material sourcing in Europe is a precondition for industrial investments.
