The Independent #AutomotiveAftermarket is central to the sector’s resilience, employment, and affordability. Yet, the European Commission's new Automotive Action Plan does not adequately reflect this vital contribution. First, while the Commission identifies the strategic importance of connected vehicle data, its approach falls short for the aftermarket. Reliance on non-binding guidance tied to the #DataAct leaves independent operators in a difficult position. Ex-ante access to this data is crucial to developing new digital products and services. Second, the plan’s focus on end-of-life #Recycling neglects the equally vital role of #Remanufacturing and refurbishment of parts. Third, ‘simplification of Type-Approval legislation’ alone is insufficient. The rise of software-defined and #ConnectedVehicles demands legislation that ensures continuous technical updates, secure access to repair information, and parts activation rights - guaranteeing that independent service providers remain viable and consumers retain choice. Finally, Europe’s approach to #CleanMobility must remain technologically neutral, supporting #Hydrogen, #RenewableFuels, and other sustainable solutions alongside battery #ElectricVehicles. Thank you for inviting FIGIEFA to such an important discussion to deffend #Repairability of vehicle parts and components and the absolutetly critical #RightToRepair! #WeKeepEuropeMoving #AutomotiveAftermarket
🚗💡 End-Of-Life Vehicles Regulation 💡♻️ Last week with Pierfrancesco Maran MEP we hosted a hearing in the European Parliament on the new #EndofLifeVehicles Regulation (ELVR). As Shadow Rapporteur for the Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament for the #ELVR, the objective of MEP Maran was to bring together as many stakeholders as possible to hear their views on the Regulation. Three points raised during the hearing underline the importance of this Regulation: 1️⃣ Promoting #CircularEconomy – Increasing circularity in the automotive industry is important and will help create new jobs in this key industrial sector. ♻️ 2️⃣ Ending #MissingVehicles – today, due to illegal dismantling and exports, more than 3 million vehicles go "missing" in the EU. This needs to stop. 🛑 3️⃣ Boosting #Repairability – Making vehicles easier to dismantle and repair, improves the availability of key materials, makes spare parts more affordable, and decreases EU's dependence on third-countries. 🔧 Huge thanks to everyone who participated and for their insightful contributions! 👏 This marked the beginning of our journey. Now the tough part of the work begins. 📝

🚘 As vehicles become increasingly digital, data access is no longer just a technical issue, it’s a question of market fairness, safety, and customer freedom. At the latest Autopromotec Talks in Milan, Igino De Lotto, Marketing Director at TEXA S.p.A., explored one of the most critical topics in the automotive aftermarket: the growing divide between OEM-authorized networks and independent repairers due to restricted access to diagnostic and repair data. 🔐 With 400 million connected vehicles on the road globally, protecting against cyber threats is essential. But at the same time, independent operators must be enabled to carry out safe, professional repairs, without being blocked by high costs or opaque processes. The message is clear: to keep workshops open and competitive, the aftermarket must invest in: ✔️ Continuous training ✔️ Advanced equipment ✔️ And above all, transparent access to data 📽️ Watch the full video to hear his insights on the future of diagnostics and vehicle maintenance. 🎟️ And don’t forget: registrations for Autopromotec 2025 are open, join us in Bologna, May 21-24 👉 autopromotec.com/ticket #AP25 #Autopromotec25 #AutopromotecTalks #accessoaidati #automotivedata #DataAct
