[ MEET OUR MEMBERS ] This week we present Italy’s industry association for composite materials Assocompositi, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year! 🔷 With more than 80 industrial members, Assocompositi works to spread the knowledge of composite materials, ensure a fair and competitive market, and promote innovation. 🔷 Assocompositi plays an active role in multiple initiatives aimed at advancing the industrialisation of circular economy solutions. It works closely with industry stakeholders to identify and implement viable, sustainable end-of-life strategies for composite materials. 🔷 Events and working groups foster networking among companies. This year, Assocompositi partners with JEC Group on #JECForumItaly. This second edition, taking place in June, will highlight the dynamism of Italy's composites ecosystem. 🤝 THE #EuCIA NETWORK "Being part of EuCIA offers us a significant added value in terms of international collaboration and mutual knowledge exchange. This collaboration ensures our members are represented at the European level in all regulatory activities of interest to our sector. Circularity issues are among the most urgent, and that is why we warmly welcomed the recent launch of the European Circular Composites Alliance." ℹ️ Read more in our interview with Assocompositi's president Professor Roberto Frassine 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eHCGdMJs #EuCIAmember #associations #collaboration #composites #Italy #europe #sustainability #circularity #ECCA

Beyond safety, EOLIAN project EU is conducting an integrated assessment of the environmental, financial, and social impacts of new vitrimer-based wind turbine blade technologies. ⬇️ #windenergy #blades #vitrimers #risk #lca #lcc #slca
[ PROJECT UPDATE ] As #EOLIAN leads the transition toward next-generation wind turbine #blades made from innovative vitrimer-based #composites, the project's Work Package 7 plays a vital role in ensuring that these new technologies are not only effective ✅, but also safe ✅, sustainable ✅ and economically viable ✅. Led by IRES, in collaboration with Tekniker, Proplast, Politecnico di Milano, AEP Polymers, Norvento Enerxía, and Zorlu Energy Group, this work addresses one of the most pressing challenges in materials innovation: how to create high-performance products that are safe to manufacture, use, and dispose of, while also minimising environmental and economic impacts. The aim is to provide the tools and insights needed to embed Safe and Sustainable by Design (#SSbD) principles throughout the entire value chain of the fibre reinforced vitrimer composites. 💻 Learn more in our latest project update 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eatwJqz5 ℹ️ The EOLIAN partners: Proplast | AEP Polymers | Brunel Composites Centre (BCC) | Entelea | IRES | Norvento | Politecnico di Milano | The European Composites Industry Association; EuCIA | Zorlu Energy Group #windenergy #turbineblades #vitrimers #compositematerials #materials #sustainability #cost #safety #risk #lca #lcc #slca #EOLIANprojectEU #EUresearch CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency

EOLIAN project EU is aiming to significantly enhance wind turbine reliability and efficiency by introducing monitoring technologies, automated maintenance solutions, and sustainable materials. Read the latest project update. ⬇️ #windenergy #blades #composites #vitrimers #sensors #SHM
[ PROJECT UPDATE ] Wind turbine blades are continuously exposed to extreme weather conditions. Early fault detection and effective maintenance strategies are essential to ensure their longevity and operational efficiency. To address these challenges, #EOLIAN is developing structural health monitoring technologies and operation & maintenance methodologies for blades. The objectives: ✅ enable early detection of ice accretion and structural damage ✅ optimise turbine performance ✅ extend the lifespan of wind turbine blades In Work Package 4, project partners Proplast, Politecnico di Milano, Norvento Enerxía, Brunel Composites Centre (BCC) and Tekniker are addressing the integration of sensors and actuators to ensure robust data acquisition, real-time analysis, and control. Significant progress has already been made in the manufacture of a blade prototype with integrated sensors and actuators. VIDEO ▶️ As we reach the end of the month, we take the opportunity to remember some of our highlights from #JECWorld2025, where we were delighted to join the industry in celebrating the 60th anniversary of this leading composites event. This was also a notable year for EuCIA as we launched the European Circular Composites Alliance #ECCA in partnership with JEC Group. We thank everyone who has already signed the ECCA Letter of Intent! During the week we participated in numerous meetings and forums to present EuCIA’s #circularity roadmap and the objectives of the ECCA. The 7th gathering of the global composites associations and EuCIA’s General Assembly also provided valuable time for discussions with industry colleagues and EuCIA members. A project update from EOLIAN project EU. 👇 #windenergy #blades #composites #vitrimers #innovation #sustainability
[ PROJECT UPDATE ] Towards an even greener wind energy industry! #EOLIAN is developing a new generation of sustainable wind turbine blades manufactured using bio-based repairable and recyclable vitrimer composites. In Work Package 1, industrial partners Norvento Enerxía and Zorlu Energy Group will specify the requirements, so that the composites developed in the project can fulfil the wind industry’s requirements. A detailed specification of the materials requirements for blade design and manufacturing has already been produced. This information will be used to tune the vitrimer resin’s properties and develop new composite materials. In parallel, Norvento will start the design and manufacture of two 14 m long blades: a traditional blade manufactured with glass fibre and epoxy resin; and a bio-based blade manufactured using basalt fibre and vitrimer resin. The properties and performance of the new bio-based solution will be evaluated.
