The industry associations AENEAS Association, EPoSS Association, and INSIDE Industry Association have started to prepare the 2026 edition of the Electronic Components and Systems Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (ECS-SRIA). 👉 This ninth edition will reflect the latest technological advancements and strategic priorities identified by the ECS community to address Europe’s evolving digital and technological landscape. 👉 The ECS-SRIA 2026 is further aligning research priorities with the implementation goals of the European #ChipsAct, driving innovation across key focus areas. 🤖 Europe is gearing up to lead the global AI race. Today, the European Commission unveiled the AI Action Plan, setting the stage for a more sovereign, innovative, and strategic approach to artificial intelligence across the continent. This initiative signals a decisive move toward building a resilient and globally competitive AI ecosystem, anchored in European values. → Infrastructure: Through new AI Factories and Gigafactories, the EU will build a large-scale AI computing infrastructure to empower startups, industry, and researchers. The Cloud & AI Development Act will support cloud-based AI solutions. → Data Access: The plan introduces Data Labs to combine datasets across sectors, while a proposed Data Union Strategy will make high-quality datasets available to drive AI innovation. → Sector Adoption: With the Apply AI Strategy, Europe will accelerate AI deployment in critical sectors like health, mobility, manufacturing, and public services, all powered by trusted, EU-developed solutions. → Skills & Talent: The AI Skills Academy will enhance education and training across Member States. This morning, during the TNO 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁, Jari Kinaret, Chips JU Executive Director, provided insights on how Europe is building capacity and fostering collaboration through the EU Chips Act. This event explored the future of the semiconductor ecosystem, with key discussions on technological advancements, policy development, and the need to strengthen collaboration within the Dutch and European semiconductor ecosystem. The Chips JU is a proven delivery engine within the Chips for Europe Initiative, playing a central role in this effort. It aligns public and private funding to maximise impact across the value chain and ultimately build a more resilient ecosystem.
