♻️ Pioneering a new era for biorefineries in Italy Each year, Europeans generate 8.5 million tonnes of absorbent hygiene product (AHP) waste - diapers, sanitary pads, and more - most of which ends up in landfills or incinerators. The CBE JU-funded Embraced project proved that even complex AHP waste can be transformed into valuable bio-based materials. 📢 The impact? The Italian government is investing €109 million to launch 11 new biorefineries nationwide, using EMBRACED as a blueprint for sustainable growth. This move positions Italy as a global leader in AHP recycling and circular innovation. This is concrete proof that bio-based solutions can drive major investments and policy change.
